MAY DAY CELEBRATION

MAY DAY CELEBRATION

Y'all know I love a theme.  Once I start with a theme, I can't seem to stop myself.  That's why I have another humorous napkin presentation on this table.  (It may also be humorous to some that I just noticed when posting these pictures that I reversed the placement of the salad and dinner forks.)

MAY DAY CELEBRATION 1

After seeing the bunny ear napkins on my Easter tables, I'm sure you're not surprised to see these. This is supposed to look like a basket handle.  It is not supposed to look like our salad bowls have a tooth ache!  After you untie your basket handle, you will have a napkin and a wine stem.  I folded a floral paper cocktail napkin to put inside the wine stems.

MAY DAY CELEBRATION 2

Each place setting begins with a leaf-shaped place mat, topped by a pastel charger.  There are four different colors of chargers.  That's because I bought them from a going-out-of-business sale, and these were their samples.  The salad bowls are Audrey by Pier 1 Imports.

MAY DAY CELEBRATION 3

The dinner plates, Roslyn by Syracuse China, were an estate sale purchase.

MAY DAY CELEBRATION 4

Vintage pink water goblets were another estate sale purchase.

MAY DAY CELEBRATION 5

I also used Audrey by Pier 1 Imports for the bread and butter plates.  You'll be seeing these often during the Spring and Summer months.

MAY DAY CELEBRATION 6

A small pastel basket at each place setting holds cuttings from my miniature climbing rose bush, along with a place card.  I think the applique flowers that I put on the place cards were in a box of things I bought at an estate sale.

MAY DAY CELEBRATION 7

Three metal baskets, purchased from a junk store, hold faux potted roses.

MAY DAY CELEBRATION 8

Of course, the bread had to be served from a basket.
MAY DAY CELEBRATION 9

There is also a basket for the salad dressings.

MAY DAY CELEBRATION 10

And there is even a basket with after-dinner-mints.

MAY DAY CELEBRATION 11

Thank you for celebrating May Day with me.

This post is partying with Centerpiece Wednesday at The Style Sisters  and Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch.

Hi Laurie, Love your pretty May Day table setting. The baskets are lovely and what a unique idea to tie the napkins around the bowl and goblet to form another basket.
Love your pretty plates too. You make every setting special my friend.
Have a great weekend. Hugs, CM

Laurie, you crack me up! I'm still laughing over your tooth-ache comment. I hadn't thought that at all until you pointed it out. It's so refreshing to see others laughing at themselves. I do it all the time, too. It's much better than living in depression over imperfection. We're human! We're women who birthed children! Over 50! The list is long! Haha. Your table is so fun and happy. You have quite an extensive basket collection. It's wonderful seeing everything gathered together for May Day. You went over the top for this table, friend. Happy May Day! You just made mine happier. :-)
