CHRISTMAS IN THE KITCHEN

Christmas Decor-Bargain Decorating with Laurie

I’m really NOT still decorating for Christmas.  I am still taking pictures to share with you.  I’ve already shared the Christmas décor in our family room (here, here, and here), our study, our entry, and our sun room.

Today, I’m sharing my OCD (Obsessive Christmas Decorating) in the kitchen. (The Christmas tree shades on the chandelier came from an estate sale a few years ago.)

In the kitchen, the Christmas décor is all about food, and mostly about sweets.

Of course, most of them are faux sweets, because I love sweets, and these sweets have zero calories.

There are some edible gingerbread men, snowmen, and Christmas trees stored in jars on the counter.  A lot of calories are calling my name from inside those jars, and I’m trying to ignore them.

Beneath the faux cranberry string, are characters from Charles Dickens, Christmas Carole, along with a set of Christmas dessert plates.

Above the stoves, faux candy canes and chocolate have taken over the shelf.

A faux cranberry garland hangs over the china cabinet, where vintage elves guard our grandchildren’s Advent calendar house and some vintage Christmas cards.

More vintage Christmas cards decorate the shelves in the breakfast nook.

The breakfast table centerpiece is made up of vintage Woolworth nativity figures, which I purchased at an estate sale years ago.

Did you see my Christmas seal?  I purchased this little needlepoint pillow at an estate auction about 20 years ago.  I just thought it was so clever.

I can’t even tell you how excited I was when my friend, Audrey, gifted me with this wonderful Christmas sign.  I adore it.  The angel with a Christmas house inside her skirt was a purchase from a gift store several years ago.

I’ll leave you with a little cocktail napkin humor.

I’m setting tables for our Christmas Eve dinner for about 30 family members.  I’m also cooking for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinners.  Both of my refrigerators are already overflowing.  I hope to be back in the next day or two with pictures of our tables for Christmas Eve.  I’m so glad you took time to stop in for a visit.

Oh, my goodness, you are amazing! I am smitten over those shandy shades! I know what you mean about the sweets...more pounds added to hips just looking at them. Your vintage card collection is a wonderful touch, too. You are all set for this week, and I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!

Your kitchen looks so festive and fun, Laurie! Love the decorations you have in here. I have a small tree in my kitchen also and the ornaments are baking themed. It is just big enough to be festive yet it doesn't get in my way. I love the shelf and the nook area you have - such fun spaces to decorate all year, I'm sure, but especially at Christmas.

Merry Christmas!
