I have a hard time adjusting to our home after taking down the Christmas decor. Everything looks dull. To transition to Winter, I decorated our mantel with Lenox Winter Greetings plates.

The House Finch
See the pretty red bows at the tops of the plates. They help me hang on to the Christmas look a little longer.

The Nuthatch
The Christmas greenery bordering the plates also help keep Christmas around longer.

The Cedar Waxwing

The Eastern Bluebird

The Cardinal
I bought these plates at an estate sale one time, and since then they've helped me transition from Christmas to Winter decor.

My sister-in-law, Brenda, gave me this sweet bird feeder for Christmas. It's almost too pretty to hang outside, so I'm using it on the mantel for now.

It has been sooo cold. I've been giving thanks for a working heater in our home. I hope all the real birds have flown further South for the Winter. Of course, there has been cold weather further South of us this year. I hope all of you are staying warm and safe. Thank you for coming to visit our winter birds.

Laurie, I'm rather enjoying the clean fresh slate here after puttin all the Christmas decor away. The snowmen are still out and about playing and making me smile, but that's about it. Yes, it is cold here too. Expecting snow and ice on Tuesday. I'd rather have the cold weather and brigh sunshine that we've enjoyed this weekend. Stay warm!

I love your winter mantle, Laurie. I know what you mean about the house seeming bare. January really is a transitional month. I just saw that you have me on your prayer list. I am so very grateful for your thoughtfulness in doing so. Your prayers are still very much appreciated as my new granddaughter is still facing challenges, and your added prayers are such a comfort. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Oh, I bit off a lot more than I usually do this time of the year. We got Christmas taken down, and put away. I am so proud of myself. I took everything out of the attic in stages and repacked it all, throwing some of it away and donating some too. I removed everything except a couple of small bookcases, an ancient set of encyclopedias and a metal file cabinet and I found a couple of things that I had been missing for a couple of years. I survived with only a lot of sore muscles and several bumps on the noggin. So, what do we do when we get everything cleaned up? Why, I pull the Valentine's Day decorations up in place. I used to have a set of Christmas dishes up until I gave them to my daughter in love, Anne. Yours are much prettier than mine were.
