VALENTINE MANTEL

Mantel Decorated for Valentine's Day

I'm a little early with my Valentine décor. When I took the New Year's decorations off the mantel, I started thinking about what to put on it.

Vintage Valentine cards on mantel

When I realized whatever I put on it would only be there a week or two, because I'd be decorating it for Valentine's Day soon, I decided to skip right on to Valentine's Day.

If you look through the window pane, you'll see a boy courting a girl from the top of a tree.

From another window pane, you'll find a boy delivering Valentine cakes.

Across the window is a banner with faux chalkboard hearts. A vintage Valentine treat box tops the window.

Some of the cards are reproductions. Most of the vintage cards were a gift from a friend who decided she didn't want to collect them any longer.

A few of the cards were mine from childhood, and some belonged to my mother.

Vaentine's Mantel Garland and Vintage paper napkins

On either side of the "Be Mine" banner, there are paper napkins my mother had saved from Valentine parties she attended. See, I didn't have a choice about becoming a collector. My mother and grandmother were both collectors.

Do you decorate for Valentine's Day? Are you surprised I do? I know you're not. I decorate for everything, and nothing I do should surprise anybody! Thank you for visiting.

Laurie, everything is fantastic in your home! Every detail, every piece, love it! Could you please upload the floor plan of your house? Will be awesome, thanks!

No, I don't decorate for Valentine's day, but I sure enjoy seeing your decor. I would love to be a fly on the wall to watch you take down all your Christmas decor down and put away. I think it would exhaust me. Lol.

After we married, we received a bunch of things that my MIL had saved from my hubby's childhood. She had saved all of his birthday cards, and all of his holiday cards, a bunch of childhood pictures and all kinds of papers. I love the pictures of him riding a highly decorated tricycle in the town 4th of July parade. All of his childhood Valentines are placed in a heart shaped card holder. Let me see if I can find a picture of it for you.

Oops. I meant to tell you that I have never met my MIL as she died when my hubby was about 14. She must have been a wonderful woman. I enjoy all of your holiday vignettes, but am looking forward to your St Patrick's Day decor. I have very little that is interesting, but you have some great things.
