MAKING UNFORGETTABLE MEMORIES

Breast cancer survivor ribbon

It's been more than a month since my last post. During that time, I had two surgeries and many medical tests. I am so happy to be able to report that I will not have intravenous chemo. I will take oral meds for years to come, and I'm okay with that. I thank those of you who have kept me in your prayers. God has blessed me.

Beach waves

I am also blessed to have a wonderful family. When all the medical reports came back, they quickly planned a week at the beach, so for the past week, I've been relaxing on the beach in Florida. I didn't have anything I needed to get up and do, so I sat in a chair and listened to the waves wash up on the shore.

Seagulls on the ocean

I enjoyed the peaceful grace and beauty of the Seagulls.

Playing in ocean

I had a wonderful time watching all six of our grandchildren play in the ocean.

Ocean

Chikdren on beach

Sand play at the beach

I laughed with the grands and played in the sand with them.

Blowing bubbles on the beach

I let them blow bubbles on me at the beach, and we all laughed over and over again.

Kite flying at the beach

I applauded them when their kites flew in the ocean breeze.

Jelly fish on beach

I even applauded when they picked up a Jellyfish. YUK!

Seashell on the seashore

I exclaimed over the seashells they found.

Children on piet

With a tear in my eye, I watched two of them hold their little brother's hands to walk on the pier.

Naval Aviation Museum

I laughed along with them as they "piloted" airplanes and "manned" the guns at the Naval Aviation Museum.

Beach

I watched them share secrets on the beach and

Brother sharing food with sister

share food on the balcony of the condo.

Moon over ocean

And we watched the moon come up, giving the  whitecaps a glow. It was a beautiful, relaxing and fun week.

Pillow

The pillow on our bed at the condo says it all.
We were lucky enough to share, not just one day, but seven days at the beach with our grandchildren. Unforgettable. It was just what the doctor ordered -- not really, but he should have. It was the best medicine I could have had.

Thank you for visiting me after my extended absence.

So happy to hear the good news Laurie, I know you must have been terrified. A week with family is always good medicine, adorable photos- You must have been near Pensacola, close to me in Orange Beach Al!

Laurie, I'm sorry that I had no idea you were going through all that! I'm glad the prognosis is good and no IV chemo is required. I also find the beach (and grandchildren) very restorative. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Laurie I am so glad you are doing better. My hubby starts a type of chemo in 9 days. Prognosis is good and I understand it in my mind but my heart is breaking. I don't know how to post anything except anonymously but I will remember you in my prayers.

I glad you are doing better and that you have a manageable treatment. It sounds like 'beach therapy' was just what you needed! Your family is your best medicine. Keeping you in my prayers.

Hi, Laurie. I am so happy that some "clouds" have lifted for you. Your time at the beach with your precious grandchildren seemed truly magical, and the best way to celebrate good news. Take care of yourself and embrace all the thoughts and prayers that are being sent to you from the blogging world! Rosie @ The Magic Hutch

You have been in my thoughts a lot lately. I thought of sending you a note , but decided that perhaps I should let let things go until we heard from you. I had a friend years ago who was walking the same path as you are now and she told us that things were going well, but the situation was always on her mind. She would finally put it out of mind for a while and then someone would call her to check on her status and suddenly she was back in that dark place filled with worry. Please know that you and your family are in my prayers every day. Hang in there and let us know if you need anything more than healing prayers and good wishes.

I am so sorry Laurie, I didn't know. I still pray for your little grandson and now I will be including you too.

Your week at the beach looks amazing and sounds like you had so much fun with your grands.

I am so happy to learn that you are cancer free, so please take care of yourself.

I am happy to know that you are recovering and that you will be able to take the oral treatments. The pictures of your grands were wonderful, I am so glad you were able to spend the week with them while you were recovering.

Laurie, I missed this post. I'm glad you mentioned it in your current post so I could read this.
I am so happy to hear you didn't have to do the infusion chemo. I didn't either, just the radiation. I tried taking Arimidex after treatment, but I just couldn't handle the side effects. It sounds like you are doing good.
A week at the beach is about the best place to be! Especially with ypur family. I went to the beach last summer for 3 days and I didn't want to leave.
