My sweetheart and I hadn't been married long when I became aware of, and fell in love with, the charming Quimperware from France. My love affair with it began with one of the first publications of Traditional Home magazine. It featured a room with blue walls and a yellow hutch filled with the delightful pottery made by Quimper.
That was before we could go online and look for something, so it took awhile before I spotted a piece in an antique store. That's when I found out that, as a newlywed, I couldn't afford it. (Heck, I couldn't even afford a subscription to Traditional Home. That was a Christmas gift from my mother each year). But it was too late. The pottery had put me under a spell, so I didn't give up trying to get some of my own. Over the years, I have found some reasonably priced pieces at estate sales, on line sales, and even at a couple of junk stores.
On this table, we are beginning dinner with a bowl of soup in vintage children's porridge bowls.
Under each of the cobalt blue stems, I added a Quimper saucer as a coaster.
To keep the salad plate clean, I topped it with a clear glass plate, which I removed with the soup bowl.
The salad plates are reproduction Quimper.
I used white dinner plates by Gibson.
The chargers are metal trays. I think these are currently produced by Quimper.
The napkins are even vintage Quimper. I bought the flatware at a Kohl's sale years ago. I don't know the name of it, but I don't think it's available any more.
There is a vintage Quimper salt cellar at each place setting.
A vintage Quimper fan vase holds leftover flowers from a Valentine bouquet from my sweetheart.
These vintage curettes aren't Quimper, but I think they coordinate with the Quimper pattern. Long ago, I bought these at an antique store that was going out of business.
Even though we are using salt cellars, I had to use my figural Quimper salt and pepper shakers on the table. In use or not, I think they add so much charm to the table setting.
I have two of these Quimper tins. I purchased one in a junk store years ago, and I recently received another from my friend, Susie. I lined them with a Quimper paper napkin to serve the rolls.
I always have fun setting a table with Quimperware. It makes me feel like I'm somewhere in the French countryside.
Merci beaucoup for your visit today.
This post is partying with Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch.

What a lovely Frenchy tablescape, Laurie. I love Quimper too....Christine
Laurie, you know this table makes me smile. I'm happy you are enjoying the little figural salt and pepper pair. I just spent a week in Dallas with QCI friends. Several flew in from the east and west coasts and from Canada. With the large membership living in Dallas, we had a great group. Wish you would join the club. We have great fun. It's a wonderful group!
I only have one picture with a Quimper couple in it. My friend painted it for me.
Love the Quimper tablescape and you have so many beautiful pieces.
Thanks for sharing your collection with us.
Have a great weekend.

Oh, Laurie. I just love this tablescape! I only recently fell under the spell of Quimper. I only have two small pieces, and I love "the hunt" when I go antiquing or thrifting. I would love to find some dinner plates or those darling salt cellars you found. I guess I'll have to start looking online. Thank you for sharing how preetty a Quimper table can be. It motivates me to stay on the hunt!! Rosie @ The Magic Hutch

Sorry I am late for my visit but I've been on a trip. You know how I love Quimper. You have such pretty pieces, two of the plates are the same as two of mine. Your table looks so pretty and I adore the salt and pepper figures. I am a member of QCI, you should join our group!
Happy weekend…….
I'm in the same quandary! I'm trying to mix bunnies and shamrocks - Love your decor and what a fabulous Quimper collection!
