BEACH BIRTHDAY BASH

Beachy Tablescape-Bargain Decorating with Laurie

Yikes! My oldest grandchild is turning 15 next week! She's studying the driver's manual to take the test for her learner's permit. How did she get this old?

I decided her birthday dinner should be a little more sophisticated than usual. She is really looking forward to going to the beach next month, so I prepared a beach tablescape for her, a friend, and two of her cousins.

Sea shell bakers are the servers for a roll and butter.

I'll be putting boiled shrimp on the fish-shaped glass snack plates (an estate sale purchase) and red sauce in the sea shell. They may either use a cocktail fork or the shell tipped toothpicks (they'll probably use both).

The service plates for the shrimp cocktail were a purchase from Tuesday Morning several years ago (Lynn Chase).

The dinner plates (Home Studio, Shoreline Collection) were a sale purchase from Kohl's a few years ago. The girls will be eating steak and  baked potatoes.

I think these fun goblets were an on-line purchase. The dots remind me of bubbles blown by fish.

Do the napkins look like sailboats?

I first used this "sailboat" napkin fold in a post in 2013. You can find the directions here.

Crepe Myrtle trees on the beach? These were the only pretty blooms I could find in the yard.

The "trees" are planted in starfish cups.

A ruffled baby blanket is supposed to resemble the white caps of the ocean waves. (I forgot to remove the two chairs on the back side of the table before setting the table. It was too hard to move them after I had the table set, so they stayed behind the ocean whitecaps.)

I'm going to get a little more playful for the birthday cake.

I'm using flip flop placemats topped by beach chair dessert plates (L. Goldinger & Co.).

I'm really not old enough to have a 15 year-old granddaughter. (Well, I don't feel old enough to have a 15 year old grand.)

Thank you for coming to sail the ocean with us.

This post is partying with  Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch and Celebrate It Sunday at Celebrate and Decorate.

What a fun setting! They grow up too fast, don't they? AJ is 16 but has not taken a driving test yet. She just started learning. Happy birthday to your grand!...Christine

What a beautiful and truly inspired table you set for your birthday girl! I love anything coastal or nautical or beachy! I would really be honored if you would stop by and share this at my new link party on Sunday at Celebrate and Decorate!

Happy Birthday to your granddaughter. the tablescape is beautiful and so well thought out. I am sure they loved the table and the wonderful food that you prepared. I wish her lots of luck with her Drivers Test.
Hows that little grandson doing? I think of him often.
