Last week, I shared a beachy tablescape (Cliek here to see it), and now I'm taking that beachy look to the mantel.
It has been so hot this week, I was ready for some soft cool colors on the mantel. I used the plates that I used last week on the table (Shoreline Collection, Home Studio).
I filled vases with seashells we have collected on beach trips and added faux white, whispy flowers. I thought these lanterns looked like they were made from driftwood that was formerly painted white but had been beaten by years of waves.
I also scattered some of our shell collection along the mantel top, and added my sand castle votive candle holder.
Can you see the sailboat, sailing past the window?
Or maybe I'll just hold one of those seashells to my ear. I have a faux seashell that belonged to my mother. It has the Lord's Prayer printed on it. I have wonderful memories of sitting quietly while Daddy held it to my ear so I could hear the ocean in it.
Thanks for coming to feel the ocean breeze with me.

Love it laurie, it makes me miss South Florida. Ok, not the humidity, but the beach definitely! You did a great job!
Hi Laurie, love your mantel and the beachy style. The window with the sail boat print behind is a special touch. Love the shell plates. Enjoy and stay cool. It's very hot here too and it certainly is summer.
Hugs, cm
I love your mantel and the coastal feel it gives. I am stuck in the oppressive heat in central Florida and could really use the beachside breezes. Your mantel is so pretty and peaceful and gives that beachy vibe. I think I would just sit in a comfy chair, look at the mantel and pretend I am at the beach! I would be so honored if you would stop by and share this at my pretty new link party at Celebrate it Sunday!
