BABY SHOWER DECOR

BABY SHOWER
My daughter-in-law is scheduled to deliver a baby the end of this month.  Her friend, who lives out of town, wanted to have a baby shower, but didn’t want to ask people to travel to the shower, so she asked if she could have it at my house.  The little penafore dress, hanging on the fireplace screen, was mine.

BABY SHOWER 2
I used vintage baby greeting cards and several pieces of vintage children’s china on the mantel.

BABY SHOWER 3

This will be our fourth granddaughter.  Our two grandsons won’t have a chance.

BABY SHOWER 4

That is my Mother’s teething ring.  She was born in 1910!

BABY SHOWER 5
The silver goblet was gifted to me when my parents adopted me.  I think I got the mug at an estate sale, and that’s my doll’s baby bottle.

BABY SHOWER 6

The silver goblet on this side of the mantel was gifted to my daughter when she was born.  The doll’s baby bottle next to it was my Mother’s when she was a child!  This mug depicts Mary Had A Little Lamb.

BABY SHOWER 7
The border hanging over the edge of the mantel is vintage shelf paper, which a friend gave me.  I found this little sketch of a baby in a book of my Mother’s after she died, so I don’t know if it was someone she knew or something she bought.  The very worn brown leather baby shoe was my Mother’s.

BABY SHOWER 8
I purchased this baby bowl at an auction years ago.  On the left side of the bowl, the words read, “I go here says the fork”, and on the right, “I go here says the spoon”.  The child’s tea set depicts Little Jack Horner.  A couple of years ago, my sweetheart bought this set at a yard sale.

BABY SHOWER 9
The table on one side of the fireplace is covered in a vintage baby blanket and vintage children’s books (most were mine).

BABY SHOWER 10
The scene under this cloche portrays our son’s children and child-to-be. You may remember several years ago, I did cutouts of photographs of my grandchildren for a Christmas cloche.  At the time, our son and his wife had two daughters.  Those cutouts are at the back of the cloche.  Since then, they have had a son.  I didn’t have a cutout of him, so the paper doll, with his back to the front of the cloche, represents their son, and the  the little girl paper doll at the front of the cloche is the unborn baby girl.

BABY SHOWER 11

On the other side of the fireplace, the table is covered with a blue vintage baby blanket.

BABY SHOWER 12 Miniature baby strollers are under these cloches.

BABY SHOWER 13

I purchased, “Aunt Mary’s Bible Stories for our Little Boys and Girls” from the Vintage Nest Shop a few years ago.

BABY SHOWER 14
On the lamp shade, I hung a tussie mussie that I purchased from Celestina Marie Designs.  The tag on it reads, “Follow rainbows and chase moonbeams”.
It was so nice of you to stop by.  laurie

She picked the right place to have the shower as you already had the decor. Love the vignette in the cloche.

This is brilliant Laurie! I never thought about using some of those kinds of items for a shower display. I just went through some boxes of my kids stuff while sorting my basement stuff and this gives me the idea for a future shower! Now I hope I can remember!! LOL... Congratulations on another grandchild to be born into the family! What a blessing!

Boy, you had all the right things just waiting to be used for a baby shower. Next time I want to have an event, may I have it at your house, too? I like how you prepare!

Well first CONGRATULATIONS on the great expectation. Second, I love every single detail you showed. It's perfectly vintage and perfectly creative. My favorite parts are the little dress and the stuff under the cloches.
