WHITE PLUS TABLESCAPE

Cuisine Kathleen has issued a challenge for a tablescape using white and one other color.  When I started setting this table, I was going to use brown and white, but then I saw Sarah’s beautiful brown and white table at Hyacinths for the Soul, and it made mine look so shabby, so I did a quick change to gold and white.  I hope none of you posted a beautiful gold and white tablescape.  It’s too late for me to change it again.

Some of you may recall that, in my old age senility, I actually started out with a black and white table for this challenge.  Two weeks ago I posted the black and white tablescape, thinking that was the week of the challenge.  My Gibson white dinner plates just keep coming back out of the cabinet.

These clear glass chargers, with gold beaded edge, were a Joss and Main purchase.  I panned to use them during the holidays, but I couldn’t wait that long.  That’s how I ended up with a gold and white table today.  The sticker on them read, “Charge It by Jay”.  Clever.  The gold flatware was purchased at an antique store years ago when a stranger tried to sell them to the store owner!  Some of you may remember reading that amusing story about what a gullible push-over I am!

The gold rimmed, monogramed salad plates belonged to my grandmother.  The WC was granddaddy’s monogram.  They are Nippon.

I used these plastic water goblets, because they have a gold ball on them that mimics the rim of the charger.

I have no idea what these things are that I clipped onto the gold striped napkins.  I’m calling them napkin clips, but I suspect that were supposed to be used to make jewelry.  Bargain Hunting with Laurie

I bought them years ago at a flea market.  They had a basket filled with them for ten cents each.  This is the back of the “napkin clips”.  When I purchased them, I thought I was going to do something crafty with them.

Bargain Hunting with Laurie

I unfolded a white (rimmed in gold) cocktail napkin to use as a coaster.

I used grandmother’s gold salt cellars.  I pulled some gold mesh out of the Christmas closet to use as a runner on the table.

Gold-rimmed drink glasses, with a white etched pattern, became votive candle holders.

I stuck a plant from the sunroom, along with some faux white flowers, into a gold and white planter for the center of the table, and I elevated it with a gold metal stand.

It was so nice of you to come visit my blog.  laurie

Laurie, I can't believe you reset your table. Can't imagine that it wasn't wonderful, but this gold and white table is stunning. Love the combination. This is a Blue Ribbon table! Looks like you went to a lot of trouble to pull out special details for this table. It's a treat, so thank you!

You should receive two A+ for setting two tables for this challenge. I think they both were A number one.

I giggled at the intro here. That's exactly the kind of thing I do, too. I guarantee that your brown one was lovely, but I'm glad you switched to the gold theme because this was so beautiful and full of ideas. I would love in a huge way to own some of those chargers. They are beautiful and unique and really steal the show here in my opinion.

So, after not one but two false starts, it looks like you came up with a winner!

I have always admired those beaded chargers, hard to believe that the water goblets are plastic -they look like they were made for owe chargers!!

Hi Laurie, I loved your confession a few weeks ago when you posted the black and white table, and now you quickly changed from brown to gold, that's hilarious! Your hard work paid off, you have created a beautiful table, your gold bead edge chargers have me drooling. You are so lucky to have the monogrammed plates from your grandmother, those are something to treasure, they are stunning! Love the gold salt cellars too!

Sigh it's so pretty! I love the chargers and the salt cellars the most! Do you remember where the goblets are from - I can't remember that you said? They are wonderful and I can't believe they are plastic -I must have misread that in the post. Jennifer

It is such an elegant table. Your grandmother's monogramed salad plates are lovely. The chargers remind me of the old candlewick glass plates.

Incredible, Laurie, how you change it up so often and each time is more beautiful and creative than the previous! I love you used your grandmother's salt cellars- that is such a sweet personal touch.

I would love to spend time wandering through thrift shops and flea markets with you- I am sure you would spot many great pieces I would completely miss!
