Cuisine Kathleen has issued a challenge for a tablescape using white and one other color. When I started setting this table, I was going to use brown and white, but then I saw Sarah’s beautiful brown and white table at Hyacinths for the Soul, and it made mine look so shabby, so I did a quick change to gold and white. I hope none of you posted a beautiful gold and white tablescape. It’s too late for me to change it again.
Some of you may recall that, in my old age senility, I actually started out with a black and white table for this challenge. Two weeks ago I posted the black and white tablescape, thinking that was the week of the challenge. My Gibson white dinner plates just keep coming back out of the cabinet.
These clear glass chargers, with gold beaded edge, were a Joss and Main purchase. I panned to use them during the holidays, but I couldn’t wait that long. That’s how I ended up with a gold and white table today. The sticker on them read, “Charge It by Jay”. Clever. The gold flatware was purchased at an antique store years ago when a stranger tried to sell them to the store owner! Some of you may remember reading that amusing story about what a gullible push-over I am!
The gold rimmed, monogramed salad plates belonged to my grandmother. The WC was granddaddy’s monogram. They are Nippon.
I used these plastic water goblets, because they have a gold ball on them that mimics the rim of the charger.
I have no idea what these things are that I clipped onto the gold striped napkins. I’m calling them napkin clips, but I suspect that were supposed to be used to make jewelry.
I bought them years ago at a flea market. They had a basket filled with them for ten cents each. This is the back of the “napkin clips”. When I purchased them, I thought I was going to do something crafty with them.
I unfolded a white (rimmed in gold) cocktail napkin to use as a coaster.
I used grandmother’s gold salt cellars. I pulled some gold mesh out of the Christmas closet to use as a runner on the table.
Gold-rimmed drink glasses, with a white etched pattern, became votive candle holders.
I stuck a plant from the sunroom, along with some faux white flowers, into a gold and white planter for the center of the table, and I elevated it with a gold metal stand.
It was so nice of you to come visit my blog. laurie
