Springtime Tablescape

My tablescape today is for dinner with the “girls”.  Don’t you think it’s funny that I still call myself and my friends “the girls”?  In my mind, we will always be girls.  (Please excuse my photography.  It is so difficult to take photos in my sunroom with so much sunlight coming through the windows.)

full tbl from side

plac stg

salad plate

Flower petal plate on sale at Pier One several years ago.

dinner plate

Dinner plate: Old Ivory Syracuse China, Bombay-estate sale years ago.

dprsn gls

Green Depression Glass: Tag sale years ago.

forks

I used Towle Old Master silverware pattern, which was our wedding pattern, because it has a floral decoration on it.

knife

I bought these knives at a tag sale years ago.  I really love them, but they drive me crazy.  I know the blade is supposed to face the plate, but the other side of the knife blade is engraved.

blade

You can see why I placed the knives incorrectly, right?

npkn

The “napkin ring” is a bookmark, which guests may take home.

bkmrk

S-h-h-h-h, Don’t tell my guests that I bought the bookmarks for 75% off at a going out of business sale.

stems btr

When I’ve used these etched stems in the past, a commenter told me the name of the pattern, but I’ve forgotten.  I wish I had time to go back into my archives and find it.  The pink stem is plastic (isn’t that fancy?).

salt celr

The salt cellars belonged to my grandmother.

bowl

I purchased two matching bowls at a tag sale.  They are “Made in Japan, Warren”.

pink bowl on plate

When a good friend of my Mother’s died, her family asked me to pick something from her estate as a remembrance.  Are you surprised I chose a plate?  I’m so glad that blogging has introduced me to so many other dish lovers.  I don’t feel so alone any more!  The unmarked plate is topped with a Pier One petal bowl for salad dressing.

pink bowl on plate 2

Another salad dressing bowl rests on a Limoges plate I purchased at an estate sale.

platter w fork

At another estate sale, I purchased this platter, which is Homer Laughlin.

I’ll be partying at Cuisine Kathleen’s for Let’s Dish Wednesday and Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday.  Thank you for joining me for the Girls Dinner.  laurie

Oh Laurie,
This is the ultimate in feminine tables!
I love the soft shades of pink, makes me want to almost eat it or wear it, not sure which.
Lucky girlfriends, they will feel pampered!

Oh Laurie, I think the light and sun coming through the window onto your pink and white table is the most stunning thing...I love all the light and of course I love the dishes, those pink glasses are to die for and the other etched glasses, wow, thats one thing I would love to have a set of...everything is soft and perfect...

I never know what dishes you will come out with next. I love depression glass but rarely see much of it any more. I know that my Grandmas did not have salt cellars. Very cute with the little spoon.

This is so beautiful, Laurie! I love it all and how you bring in colors that are in the Bombay plate. I'd never guessed that the pink stemware was plastic. Are you sure? I love the white whicker too.

Laurie, what a gorgeous, feminine table! I love the mix of pretty floral dishes, and the Bombay pattern is especially gorgeous. The sweet salt cellars add a lovely touch, and I know you smiled as you thought about your grandmother using them, too. And I always love seeing your Old Master -- beautiful!

Lucky "girls" that get to enjoy dining and chatting at this lovely table. It's all so feminine and perfect for spring, Laurie. It doesn't bother me which way a knife blade faces, but I think those Anysley knives are fabulous.

It's pink pink pink and I LOVE it. I wouldn't have known that one glass was plastic had you not said it. That's shows you just how good my "eye" is. I love every pattern you included here and would have been drawn to every one of them. (And I have some knives that have the same problem. Irks me, but I still use them.)

I love the idea of a bookmark for a napkin ring. Wouldn't they make great place cards too?

And those salt cellars? My favorite thing on the table.

Your table is beautiful! i love the pinks. I wish i had your eye for decorating.

Girl, I seriously would never have known that pink goblet was plastic! Are you sure?!?!??!?!! It doesn't look that way at all! It's...it's...are you sure??!?!?!!!

This is a fine study of pink and femininity! I know the girls felt very loved with this set up! (I still refer to myself and my friends as "girls." In fact, I started this comment off with "Girl...." Imagine me saying it in a kind of urban tone with my head going back and forth. Yeah...go on...you know how to do it! :-) Get down with your bad self! :-) :-) :-)

I love the centerpiece in that fabulous silver cooler. It adds such a touch of class! I'm feelin' you about the knives, too. I have a set like that. I'm starting to think that's why I was able to get them at the rock bottom price I did! Oh, well....it's a trade off!

I love it that your friends asked you to pick something that would remind you of their Mother. That's very sweet...and even sweeter that you have displayed it so beautifully here.

Have a great weekend, Laurie!

That is so pretty, perfectly feminine for the girls. I love the soft pinks, the dishes are beautiful.
I still call my friends girls too, but my dh always corrects me with you mean "old Bags"! :) I am sure he doesn't mean it!
