DINING WITH THE DUTCH

Dutch Theme Tablescape-Bargain Decorating with Laurie

I have a fascination with windmills, wooden shoes, blue and white tiles, and anything else Dutch-related.

I can't explain my attraction to the Dutch. As far as I know, I don't have Dutch ancestors.

Dutch accessories are just charming.  I bought this flatware at Kohl's years ago, and I don't remember the pattern name, but I haven't ever seen it there again.

I've had the cobalt blue glass chargers for a lot of years. I bought them at one of those kitchen outlet stores.  I used Myott Finlandia dinner plates  I've collected these dishes everywhere (estate sales, junk stores, and a yard sale).

I used vintage cobalt blue water goblets and wine stems that belonged to my mother.

Dutch tiles became coasters at each place setting.

The "zout and peper" shaker set are marked "Holland".  I bought them at an antique store.

I served salad dressings from Myott Finlandia mugs.

The pitcher belonged to my mother. I've been told that the pitcher and mug set depict fairytale scenes.

These shy (I guess they're shy, because they won't look up at the camera) Dutch figurines also belonged to my Mother. (Maybe she's why I'm drawn to Dutch things.)

Thank you for going to Holland with me today.

I understand your attraction to the blue white china as I used my Blue Willow for years. I need to pull it back out again, but it is stacked on a top shelf and it is too much of a bother. I am just that lazy. Right now I am using either my Spode Woodlands or my Franciscan Apple simply because they are close. My husband grew up eating off the Apple and I just like it. I used to see it stacked everywhere until I bought mine and now I can't find it anywhere. I still need the cups and saucers and some soup bowls, a few salad plates, but feel sure that one day I will trip on a stack o serving pieces as well. Maybe I need to just go shopping with you. The children are filling in my pieces of the Spode at Christmas. I have the sporting dogs as we have 2 English Springer Spaniels, our Son and Law has a yellow lab. Wish me luck.

Such a charming table Laurie. I think all things Dutch are lovely and what's not to love. You are fortunate to have these pieces that were once your mom's. I especially like the little boy and girl figurine.
Stunning tablescape Laurie.............
