WHITE AND BROWN TABLESCAPE

A brown and white tablescape is my attempt to meet the challenge issued by Cuisine Kathleen this week.  Kathleen keeps us on our toes with her challenges.  This week’s challenge is a tablescape using only white china, with the addition of one other color in the table accessories.  Bargain Decorating with Laurie-Brown and white tablescape

The chargers are “Lace” by Kennex, which I bought at J.C. Penney about four years ago.  The dinner plates are by Gibson.  I’ve probably had them for six years.  I bought them at an outlet store.  The soup bowls (Mammoet, Hotelporselein), which I bought at an estate sale some time ago, are on top of the etched glass dessert plates that I used in a tablescape a couple of weeks ago.

Both the crystal water goblets, and the milk glass goblets (which I’m using for wine) were purchased from estate sales at different times.

I tied the white, restaurant napkins with brown and white herringbone ribbon that I had in my stash, and attached an acorn ornament that is part of my Fall décor.  I ordered the faux bamboo flatware on line a few years ago.  It may have been from One Kings Lane.  I love that place!

Following the soup course, I’m serving baked potatoes with our dinner.  Small brown and white pitchers will hold melted butter.  This pitcher, which I purchased at a flea market, is Berkeley Pattern by Sterling China Co.

This one, purchased at auction for $8.00, is Brier by Royal.

Our centerpiece is our first course – soup, served from a tureen I have had for a very long time.  I think I bought it at a junk store.

I hope this confession doesn’t get me kicked out of Cuisine Kathleen’s challenge.  After the soup course, I will remove the tureen, and replace it with this beautifully painted faux pumpkin that I ordered from Celestina Marie Designs Etsy.

Celestina is so talented.  I love this painting, and I know I’ll love bringing this out every Fall.

Hi Laurie,
Love your brown and white. Everything is so Autumn and inspiring right down to your napkin holders. It is always fun to pull together items we have had for years and they take on a new look. You do this beautifully.

You are so sweet to show your pumpkin. My goodness I am honored for the mention. I hope you enjoy it for years to come.

Have a wonderful day.

All of those different white dishes patterns are lovely. I'd love to touch them all. It makes me realize that there's more than a design to consider in dishes, there's texture too.

I just love this one, Laurie. The thing that *makes* it to me is the way you used all different shapes and patterns of white for the place setting. It gives it that tone on tone texture that goes so well with the browns. I also love the little acorn on the ribbon with the napkin. It's the little extra touches that give the oomph to tables, IMO.
