A very small METAMORPHOSIS

When I bought these chairs at an estate sale years ago, I really didn’t have any problem with the fabric on the seats.  It just didn’t seem to fit with the room.  “Howevah”, I’ve lived with them that way for years.  (Please excuse the dining table in the background ~ I was using it as my work table.)

I really bought the chairs, because I loved the carving on the backs of them.

I have hesitated to change the fabric, because of the way the chair was constructed.  In the past, when I’ve recovered chair bottoms, they were screwed into the wood of the chair.  I was afraid I’d never be able to get those strings back through the holes.  It was not really very difficult at all, and I was sorry I waited so long to change them.

I know you are shocked that I picked a toile fabric – NOT!  I cannot resist a remnant of a toile fabric when I see it on a sale table.  For someone who doesn’t sew, I have a LOT of toile fabric remnants stacked in my closet!

I do like them better … for now.  Now that I know I can get the strings back through the holes, I may change these more often!  I did leave the previous fabric under this one, so if I change my mind, I can always rip the toile off and go back to the old look.

I am very behind on my blog visiting, and I apologize.  I do hope I’ll be able to get by to visit my favorite blogs soon.  Thank you for coming to see my little metamorphosis.  laurie
