GIRLFRIEND'S DESSERT PARTY!

For this week's Tablescape Tuesday, hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch, I am hosting a "girlfriend's dessert party" for my niece, who is a senior in high school. I'll be serving coke floats (Do people still do coke floats-you know, scoops of ice cream with coke poured over). There will also be assorted cookies.

The coke floats will be served in these bright blue goblets . I saw these in one of those locked cabinets at an Antique Mall. Although I just knew, since they were in a locked cabinet, they were going to be too expensive for me, I asked to see them. That's how I learned that they were asking $10 for the setof 8 of them, but they would take $8.00 for the set. That is also when I learned that they are a heavy plastic, which I really liked better. That meant I could serve my grandchildren treats in them. (I also got the 8 matching banana split boats) I was surprised they were plastic. Could you tell?

My very simple centerpiece is a metal doll (given to me by my dear friend, Susie, years ago). I keep her on a dresser top in my closet, where she holds vintage jewelry (just as she's now doing on my table).

Each goblet is on a plate similar to this one. I waited months for Tuesday Morning to mark these down to a price I could consider a bargain! My husband always says "it isn't a bargain if you're not going to use it", so I make a point of using these every chance I get.

This one says, "A woman's work is never done, so why bother"

I love having a chance to use vintage hand stitched place mats and napkins. I liked the way they looked with these kind of modern-looking women.

This plate says "I've been on a diet for two weeks,

and all I lost was two weeks".

My napkin rings are vintage bracelets (yeah, I have a lot of vintage).

"If high heels were so wonderful, men would be wearing them."

Do you think I'm going to have some giggling teenage girls at my house?

One of my favs: "I'm not to going to vacuum til Sears makes one you can ride on."

When the cookies are gone from one of the plates in the middle of the table, the girls will be able to read on this plate:

"I just want to be wonderful."

And on this plate:

"You see a lot of smart guys with dumb women, but you hardly ever see a smart woman with a dumb guy"
