TV CABINET FROM DRESSER

dresser

I’ve been to Texas, where I visited my friend, Melinda.  I want to show you her brilliant metamorphosis.  Isn’t this a beautiful dresser?

dresser 1

Her husband and his father hinged the drawer fronts on the top two drawers, so it could be used as a t.v. stand.

Don’t you love it?

This might also be considered a metamorphosis.

cash register 1

Melinda used the vintage cash register from her grandparents’ jewelry store as a decorate piece in her home.  As you can see, this formerly useful piece is a work of art!

The beautiful wood drawer under the cash register are part of the cash register.  Drawers are lettered A, B, and D.  I have no idea why there isn’t a C.  Can anyone answer that question for me?

The corresponding letters appear on the cash register.

By selecting the letter on the cash register, then turning the crank, the drawer opens.  (Melinda keeps her “fire starter” rolls, which appear to be big money rolls) in one of the drawers.  Clever, huh?

Thank you for coming with me to visit Melinda in Dallas today.  laurie

I’m partying with Met Monday at Between Naps on the Porch, Inspire Me Tuesday at A Stroll Thru Life, Tweak it Tuesday at Cozy Little House, and You’re Gonna Love It Tuesday at Kathe with an E.

Laurie, the dresser idea is so clever. I don't think I've ever seen that before; and the cash register is such a treasure!

Love that little dresser- that wavy front on it is really neat! That's pretty unique how they changed the drawer fronts into doors. The cash register with its own original stand is quite a treasure. I found this article on them that talks about the letters. http://www.drloriv.com/Tips/ID/368/Antique-Cash-RegistersJ

Fun to find new uses for old things and have a hubby handy enough to make it happen. Did you go to Round Top on your visit?

Hi Laurie, How fun you came to Dallas. You were very near me here in Flower Mound.
Love these transformation and wonderful uses of treasured pieces. Love the cash register and I really don't know whey there is no C but the first register I used when I worked in retail many years ago did not have a C either. Interesting to know.
Thank you for sharing these inspirational pieces.

Enjoy the last days of October.
Hugs
