EASTER MANTEL WITH WHIMSEY

Easter Mantle

Easter bunnies have already shown up to hide eggs on our mantel.

Easter Mantel

Some of their painted eggs are still hanging on the line to dry.

But that hasn’t stopped them from getting a head start on the great egg-hiding adventure.

Easter Mantel

They are even hiding them in trees.  I hope we don’t have any high winds before Easter.

In the middle of all of those eggs, I noticed something strange.

Easter Mantel

What is the meaning of the Mad Hatter’s hat on our mantel?

Easter Mantel

The ears sticking up through the hat (and the wiggling in the grass) were a sure sign that Mr. Rabbit had run off with the Mad Hatter’s hat.  Instead of helping with the egg hiding, that rabbit is hiding from the Mad Hatter in the grass on our mantel!

Easter Mantle

Then, I noticed that this elaborate Easter egg had a chain attached to it.

Easter Mantel

When I examined it, I found that it wasn’t an egg after all, but Mr. Rabbit’s pocket watch.  I think that rabbit is late for a very important date (possibly with a very mad, hatless Mad Hatter!

Easter Mantel

Only time will tell whether or not Mr. Rabbit will be able to conceal himself from the Mad Hatter.

I’m so glad to have you visit me.  laurie

Cute story! The mantel looks adorable! Love all the paper eggs. I have one from my childhood and just bought a large sized one that I'm still deciding on how to display. Love the mad hatter addition! Cute!
