WINTER MANTEL

Winter Mantel Decor

If you think I’m having trouble giving up my Christmas decorations, you may be right.  For our current mantel décor, I did pull out some of the Christmas décor that I had just put away!

Winter Mantel Decor

After I removed the Christmas décor from the mantel, I decorated the mantel for New Year’s.  Winter Mantel Decor

Now, the deer, the wooden Christmas trees (turned backwards for this mantel), and faux snow have come back out of the holiday closet.  (Yes, I’m getting kind of tired of carrying things in and out of that closet!)

The reason I went back into the holiday closet is that I wanted to create a “winter in the woods” feel for the mantel.

Along with the Christmas décor, I used tree-like candles and deer sheds.

Winter in the Woods

I played with a photo in Photoscape to create this “drawing” of “Winter in the Woods” on our mantel.

I appreciate you visiting my blog.  I hope you’ll come back soon.  laurie

Laurie, your winter scape certainly reflects what is happening in the north east right now. Cold here too, but no snow. I've packed up the Christmas things and am ready to bring out the snowmen for January.
Hope you are warm and cozy even with this snowy scene inside your home. '-)

Your mantel looks wonderful. I love how that picture turned out that you created of the mantel- very cool! Looks like something for a greeting card! Perhaps I should have considered doing something like this. After taking down all my holiday stuff and putting my mantel back to the way it was it feels so drab!

HI Laurie,
I just love your winter mantel. Those deer are adorable. And you know I love the lamps there. Just adds to the evening charm. The drawing you created with photoscape is awesome. I use them too and also picmonkey. PS is faster to use most of the time however.
Have a wonderful Jan. week and stay warm. We are freezing here and wok to 16 degrees. Not used to this in Texas.
Hugs

A winterscape is so much fun after Christmas when you can focus on a few beautiful things instead of decoration scattered about the house. I love it!

Hi! I'm visiting from a Stroll Through Life. I love your winter mantle and I don't think it is "christmas-y" at all. Deer, snow, a forest -- in the upper part of the northern hemisphere this time of year, that's what winter is all about. I don't know why everyone is so eager to take down all the beautiful christmas-y things anyway. Mine don't come down until the end of January; that's soon enough to suffer through the doldrums and awfulness of February without all the glitz, shine and sparkling lights of Yuletide and getting used to a naked-looking house again. I'd already determined that I'm keeping my own particular version of a winter forest mantle up well past Christmas. I'm so happy to find someone who is doing the same, makes me think maybe I'm not so nuts after all, LOL!

Hi Laurie,
IF there was a best dressed category for mantels, yours would surely win hands down.
I love the look of your winter mantel. It would fit perfectly around these parts. I am trying hard to find some inspiration. But with minus 40 degree windchills, I think my brain is slightly frozen.
Hugs friend,
Cindy

True confession: My Christmas mantel is still up.

I would love to claim that I was waiting until Epiphany, but the truth is that I am just ferhoodled and behind. I still had at least one daughter home until this weekend so I am just getting my bearings straight. (Is that the way you spell bearings in that expression? Dunno. Ought to google that...)

Your wonderful winter mantel has me all inspired and ready to go now. I love those deer which are the focal point of yours. They are just stunning.

Laurie, Your winter mantle is beautiful. It has a warmth to it, perhaps from the lanterns or maybe the burlap textured deer. It just feels right for the season. It says winter! I am just getting my Christmas put away, no hurry here. I usually go straight to Valentines Day decor as soon as the tree comes down. But maybe now I will let the snowflakes and icicles hang around for a while longer, somehow it seems right this year.
