PILGRIMS REPLACING GOBLINS

Thanksgiving Decor-Bargain Decorating with Laurie

When I showed you my buffet in the sunroom last month, it was decorated with spooks and goblins.  A few little changes, and it has morphed it into a Thanksgiving vignette.

After removing the spooky from the buffet, this dour looking pilgrim couple took up residence,

along with an even more dour looking Indian (he’s even a little scary-maybe he should have been part of the Halloween décor!)

Two decorative Fall plates replaced the plates formerly displayed on the buffet.

A Thanksgiving sign is also displayed on the shelves.  “May you see many glad Thanksgiving Days.  May you always ride on the wings of prosperity and plenty.”

The witchy Halloween plate in the center of the shelf on my hutch in the family room flew into the closet until next Halloween.

A “We are Blessed beyond measure” plate and a “Give Thanks” box replaced the witchy plate.

A pumpkin, with another Thanksgiving sentiment, also became part of the vignette on the hutch.  Are you getting ready for Thanksgiving?  We host dinner for between 25 and 30 family members, so I have to start getting ready early.  Thanks for visiting my blog.  laurie

I’m joining these parties:

Met Monday at Between Naps on the Porch, Inspire Me Tuesday at A Stroll Thru Life, The Scoop at Confessions of a Plate Addict, Open House Thursday at No Minimalist Here, and Seasonal Sundays at The Tablescaper.

Hi Laurie,
I am getting ready for an early Thanksgiving dinner we are having this Saturday. It's the only time our middle son can drive over the mountains to celebrate with us. He works on Thanksgiving this year. I understand the getting ready early when you are having 30 guests! On Thanksgiving day we'll join that many or more at our friends home. We'll be bringing the yams with marshmallows. I hope your meal is somewhat pot luck with that many coming...

Wow, Laurie, your Thanksgiving decor is wonderful! I haven't done anything yet. We're in the middle of a big project for our girls. Hopefully, I can pull something together.

Since I am not having Thanksgiving at my house I am starting to take down my fall decorations and will start with my Christmas decorations.
There are a lot things I want to put up, if I have the energy to get everything completed. Just setting up my Christmas village will take days because I play with it.
I love all your decoration on your Fall shelf and hutch. Very pretty decorations.
Have a great week and don;t work to hard.

So... I took some time to stop here this morning, and I have decided to dub your Thanksgiving decor as my #1 favorite of all your holidays. I love every inch of it.

Laurie, I printed out--in color!--your buffet earlier in autumn and will this one too. I love the oranges especially against that wonderful blue. Those striped glass pear and apple are favorites of mine and I love the Mane Lion platters from Italy. There's just something about Italian pottery and ceramics that calls to me every time. But your sweet little We Are Blessed plate says it all this month. (I even like your dour Indian! My own dour Indian, R.H., is at least 75% Cherokee and very proud of it, and yes he's a little on the dour side too! Strong silent type.

Thank you, Laurie for your sweet comments today. They meant a lot to me.

You cracked me up with your comment about your scary indian.
Everything looks great. You have your work cut out for you with that big of group at your house. I bet it's so much fun though, getting everyone together.

Laurie! Everything looks wonderful! This is the first year for, I don't know how long, that we won't be having all our grown kids and grandkids over for a Thanksgiving dinner. We downsized in the spring. I'm okay with not doing so much work! And we'll have other friends over, too.

Laurie, we'll have but a fraction of the guests you'll host, but I've yet to get anything ready. Need to get myself moving as the clock is ticking. '-)

Love what you "did with the place" - lol! Great job on switching from Halloween to Thanksgiving. I am totally in love with that glass pear and apple - they are stunning! I am trying to get ready for Thanksgiving, but I am just helping with the food this year - yeah!! Hope you have a great one!
