FLOATING LUNCH

We spent Labor Day on our son’s pontoon boat.  It had rained, and the temperatures had dropped just enough to make the day bearable.  It was a fabulous way to end the Summer.

First, we found some good ways to work up an appetite.

I had to take these pictures very quickly, because my family was already removing food from the table while I was snapping pictures.

At home, I can take pictures while everyone is somewhere else in the house.  On a boat, there is nowhere for everyone to go.  I briefly considered pushing them all overboard, so I could get my pictures, but then I decided I might be putting blogging before family, so I snapped while they ate.

We let the ants stay at the picnic, since they delivered our salt and pepper.

All of our food didn’t fit on the little table on the boat, but I’m not going to show you the “seat scape”.  Trust me, it wasn’t a pretty sight.

Two of our granddaughters decided that Lilly Pads make great sun-brellas, ..

and even better sunhats.

Our youngest grandson decided that he was the boat captain. Yes, this is the 1.14 pound baby that so many of you prayed for after his birth nine months ago.  Those chubby cheeks are proof that prayers work.  He is a miracle!  (Those are shadows on his check and his right side.  I didn’t want you to think we let him get sunburned.)

At the end of a fun day, it was finally time to leave the water, the Lilly pads, and the sun behind, and head back to reality.

I am posting some of my favorite inspiration photos on Friday.  I hope you’ll come back to see them.  Thank you for floating along with us today.  laurie

Your Labor Day was a lot more exciting than ours. We didn't do a thing! Your tablescape is colorful and fun, a perfect for boating. Just looking at the fried chicken makes me hungry, and I've had dinner! Fun to see the grands. You have a beautiful family! ~ Sarah

Yes, you said it. A perfect day. Thank you for sharing the fun family photos. Love those hats! I'd never know your boat captain came such a long way without you sharing a little of his story. Yes, God answers prayer - so blessed to have this proof! His expression is priceless. Hey, action shots while eating are fun, so I'm glad you opted to keep your family in the boat. I enjoyed this post completely! Oh, and the checked plates are picnic perfect, along with the ants. :-)

Laurie, I smiled all the way through this post! What a happy day for you and your family. I have not had breakfast, yet, so that delicious looking food made me very hungry! Loved that line, about your thinking of pushing everyone overboard. I think all of us had have those crazy thoughts, when we are trying to get the perfect photo - lol!!

A floating lunch is my absolute favorite, and we've enjoyed many over the last couple of months. My table is generally not so attractive as yours!

What a fun day and adorable photos! Your grandson is indeed a miracle, what a blessing! I did so laugh and relate about snapping photos before the food was eaten...my family is always saying "Wait! Mom has to take a picture!" In fact now they are so well trained they ask me, "Do you want to take a picture of this?" Ha!
LOVED those lily pad hats!

Hello, Laurie! Absolutely LOVE your floating lunch idea! We live on a lake and own a pontoon boat, also. This gives so many inspirational ideas! I may have to try doing one, myself before the cold Indiana weather sets in. Never in my life have I ever seen such LARGE lily pad leaves! You must have SUPER-sized plants in Arkansas!! I am now a follower on Bloglovin'!

Husband and I lived on the big Eau Plaine flowage for 30 years, and we did the same thing, with our 3 boys, and some of our neighbors on our pontoon each year.Memories are very special. Times have changed, people have moved on, some are gone...but memories are with us forever...loved your story...

That was a nice day! I could almost feel the water and sun. The food looks wonderful and I love seeing Cooper there enjoying himself so much. That glee on his face with the steering wheel in his hands shows he is all boy! God bless him!
