ANNIVERSARY TOAST

No, I didn’t fix my sweetheart toast for breakfast on our anniversary.  As a matter of fact, I haven’t fixed him anything for breakfast in a very long time.  In spite of that, he has stayed married to me.  And believe me, he’s had plenty of reasons to not stay married to me.  I don’t know how I got so lucky.

We did toast each other to celebrate our wedding anniversary this past weekend.

full pic

If you read my last post, you know that I was sitting on this loveseat when he proposed to me!  Yes, that was many years ago (44, but whose counting?), and no, it’s not the same upholstery.  I decided that it would be a good place for us to toast our anniversary.

You are probably wondering what that mess is in those two champagne glasses.  Those were the glasses we used at our wedding reception, and they are filled with remnants of the bouquet I carried.

plate

I used one of the plates from our china pattern we selected when we married.  (Lenox Moonspun)

I put breadsticks in a stem from our selected crystal (also Lenox Moonspun).

The wine stems had nothing to do with our wedding.  I used them, because I love them.  I ordered these beauties from Vanna’s Armoire Etsy.

I have always suspected that he decided I was the girl for him when I told him that I love daisies (so much less expensive than roses – cheapest date he’d ever had)!  He always brings me daisies for our anniversary.

I included a little reminder of why we were toasting (you know, when you get older, and you start drinking wine, you might forget why you’re drinking it).

What a sweet post! I love that you still have the same loveseat where your sweetie proposed! And I always enjoy seeing "our" crystal. We are just a few years behind you -- will celebrate 41 years in December. Happy anniversary!

Well first, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
And second: Please oh please tell me that you added that wonderful picture of the engagement after the previous post was up a minute. I did NOT see it the last time and had to go back and look when you mentioned it here. I am so glad I did because I loved it. I would have hated to miss it.

Your "toast" looks just wonderful. I know I've told you this, but we have Moonspun too! If we lived near each other, we could combine for a big shindig!

The hubby and I rarely have breakfast together. He's usually out of the house by 6 and I don't wake until 45 minutes to an hour later. When he is here he usually fixes his own cereal. An anniversary breakfast would, indeed, be something special. I'll remember to follow your beautiful lead.

everything is just so very pretty but I have to say my heart belongs to the beautiful blue vase you have flowers in. It makes my heart sing.
enjoy every moment of your anniversary and all the moments till the next..

Happy Anniversary! We celebrate ours this weekend, but we haven't hit the 40 year mark yet. Looks like a sweet way to celebrate and romantic with all the reminders of that special day 44 years ago. ~ Sarah

Happy Anniversary! I love your little table for two and always love spotting that gorgeous Moonspun stemware.

Love that you still toast each other, even if you don't make him toast. Very glad that neither he or you ARE toast! Many, many more to both of you.

Hi Laurie!

Despite the romantic significance of the occasion, you had me laughing so hard- the reference to the wine, the daisies...you are one funny lady!

All laughs aside, a very HAPPY ANNIVERSARY with best wishes for many, many more!

So romantic, I love the daisies, they look so fresh in the blue vase. Happy anniversary. I think you are a very lucky lady to still be in love all these years later.

Well, of course the toast had to be by this great couch! There's lots of history there! You made me smile with your comment about needing a reminder of why you are toasting. The daisies are lovely. i'll always make room for them in my house. Happy anniversary!

Happy Anniversary! I'm glad to know I'm not the only no-breakfast-serving wife. :-) We are blessed to have these forgiving men in our lives! I love your Lenox Moonspun china and stemware!!!!! You chose well, my friend, all those years ago. It's amazing you have the same sofa he proposed on. Oh! I just realized that we still have ours, too. :-) But, since I married "older", it's only been 24 years, a lot shy of your 44. You are right about not remembering things. Love the picture!
