SUMMER COTTAGE TABLESCAPE

I just can’t give up on directing subliminal advertising toward my sweetheart through tablescapes.  This ad has about as much chance of working as the Paris tablescape.

Bargain Hunting with Laurie

You may recall that one of my cloches I posted last week, I called “Arriving at the Summer Cottage and Finding that the Caretaker hasn’t Mowed”.  Yep, I name my cloches!  Please don’t call the funny farm though.

Bargain Hunting with Laurie

I used it on my tablescape to send a message to my sweetheart that I’d love to have a summer cottage.  Of course, if I tell him that, he always responds that I only want it, so I’ll have another house to play in with my “stuff”.  (He may be partially right).

Bargain Hunting with Laurie

We started our dinner with shrimp cocktail.

When I removed our shrimp cocktail stems, he was confronted with another cottage.

Bargain Hunting with Laurie

We had chicken casserole in the little cassolettes and baked potatoes in the potato baskets.

When my sweetheart asked for salt and pepper, I passed him more cottages!

And when he wanted butter on his potato, I gave it to him on another cottage plate.

I’m not going to hold my breath waiting for him to buy me a cottage, but we did enjoy our cottage dinner.

Laurie, I loved all the cottage dish ware. Do you think he got the hint?
Everything worked so well together.
Great post.

I love this tablescape. There are so many different aspects to it. I love the square dishes on the round charger, the use of the basket and the cassolute. It all works so well together.

I don't know if your hubby got the hint, but I know it would have gone right over my husband's head. There is no way he would have gotten it.

Oh my goodness, how cute is this! I love all your little cottages! The cloche centerpiece is ADORABLE! If I tried to give my hub a subtle hint like that he would NEVER get it! Keep trying though! So so cute!

I've been more effective with my hints using a baseball bat, if you get my drift/or swing in this instance!! Good luck, I hope your dream comes true. The cottage pieces are charming. Love them all. Must go register for that giveaway.. xo marlis

Glad to know that I am not the only one that it would take a bat for hubby to get the hint. I have those dinner plates on my wish list...really do like your cottage dishes.

I have been inspired to do a Paris tablescape...lol..sure it won't help but I think it is a cool idea, love your dishes and I really think those little casarole dishes are the sweetest...love those dishes with the cottages...you have the best collection of dishes, mine pales in comparison,,,

Laurie, hope your sweetheart got the message. '-)
Cute details on this table and the menu sounds delicious. I'd love to have a second home. Just think how many dishes we could have then!

I am grinning at your cheekiness and the theme of this one. I love cottages so the dishware really spoke to me. (I remember the cloche from that post, too.) The table, even without the subtle hints to hubby, is really pretty to me. I love those salt and pepper shakers. They are adorable!

Did you serve cottage cheese and cottage pudding? Ha!

I do not think this qualifies as subliminal. Subtle? Maybe not even that!
Even if he is right about your wanting another place to decorate and play, what is wrong with that?!!?

Oh Laurie,
Every table you do is so amazing!
I love the cottage theme, I want those plates so bad.
I love your humor and tenacity at getting hubby to see your plan!!
Very smart cookie you are...

Let's see here now....Funny Farm...Funny Farm. Geez, I used to have them on speed dial. I can just look up the phone number on Google, I suppose. Any way it goes, we've gotta get you a reservation there...STAT!!! :-)

I love the way you are able to turn your hinting campaign into such fun tablescapes! It's the only way to go! I think you deserve a little getaway cottage and a trip to Paris for the effort alone! Even if it doesn't result in that, you sure went all the way to get the ball rolling!

Laurie,
You are hilarious! My husband would not notice if I served dinner on wooden plates yet alone along a theme.

And yes, I do believe I understand completely how you might want that little cottage for another place to decorate- that is why I constantly peruse the real estate ads!

Your dinner sounds yummy, even if he did not get the hint.:)

Who ever heard of potato baskets? What a darling way to remind!! This is such an adorable table Laurie. I love every little touch about it. That long grass in the cloche is killer!

Hi Laurie, I love your cottage tablescape. This is the best kind of hint for your hubby. Do you think it worked? I would love a little cottage to fill with my goodies overflowing here. LOL I won't have to purchase a thing but the cottage!
Love your plates and those shakers are darling.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs, Celestina Marie

I think every woman should own 5 houses so we can decorate them all different. We could live in the house that follows our mood and change houses often. lol I love your cottage theme. I do hope your hubby buys you a cottage. If not you still can have your cottage tables....

Laurie,
I love your cottage-themed tablescape, and that cloche is just adorable! I think we just need to admit it-men aren't any good at taking hints! But it's fun trying!

I love it that you name your cloches. It was a pretty long name though. I would never remember it. Your table is beautiful. I love the yellow individual casseroles with the plates. I would like to fill up another place too but not necessarily have to clean another one!

I don't know why I don't use more yellow in my tablscapes, it is such a happy color. I love those cassolettes and baked potato baskets.
Have a great week...
