SAIL AWAY TABLESCAPE

Bargain Hunting with Laurie
Bargain Hunting with Laurie
Clear glass salad bowl (my mother’s) tops Royal Warwick, Lochs of Scotland dinner plate (purchased at a garage sale a few years ago).  Those pointed napkins are supposed to look like sailboats.

The blue glass chargers, and the swirls on the edges of them remind me of the ocean.

The ruffled baby blanket made me think of white wave caps on the ocean.  I know, that same blanket made me think of snow drifts when I used it in a winter tablescape.

The centerpiece is an island in the middle of the ocean.  From the beach, you can see a tree and some flowers.

Salad dressing was served in a blue creamer (estate sale purchase), which rests on unmarked plate that I’ve had too long to remember where I got it.

I did remember to put a butter knife on this plate before we ate dinner (Port of Plymouth, Made in England, purchased at a flea market).

Laurie, with all the blue and white details, you are ready to sail. The napkin fold is clever. Thanks for the tutorial. I read your kitchen post earlier, but couldn't comment because I was on my iPone. ;-) Love seeing your Q grouped together above your stove. Sorry there was an accident. Not so worried about the plate as I am about my friend. Hope you are OK and that the bruises don't hurt too much. Be careful! ~ Sarah

Laurie - I do not know if any of us can top this one! You thought of every little detail to make us all want to sail away! Those napkins are adorable and the ruffled blanket does look like waves! I am a little jealous of those Scottish Loch plates. All things Scottish - another obsession of mine. Is there no end to those - lol!!

Hi Laurie, I'm thinking that the ruffled blanket really does look like waves!! What a fun table to make us sail away with you. The napkins really sail us over the top! Great job.

Ahoy, matey! Your imagination was really hard at work this week, Laurie! Great job! Yes...the napkins TOTALLY look like sailboats! When I first looked at the whole table, it reminded me of the nearby lake on Memorial Day weekend when we first see all the boats out on the water. And what a great use of the ruffled baby blanket! I can imagine the wave caps. Good comparison!!!

Your dining table has such a great backdrop to it with that whole wall of bookshelves!!! And the fireplace is right there so close for winter. It's just heaven!!!

Have a terrific weekend, and carry on, Captain! :-)

Beautiful, Laurie...blue and white table are way up there on my list of favorite tables. I love those Noritake Swirl dark blue stems, especially against the white "waves". That baby blanket makes a wonderful table topper.
Have a great week...

This table is my second favorite table of yours, the first still being your cowboy table for your husband's birthday! But this one is refreshing and the room behind the table is just lovely.

I just love the ruffled baby blanket idea on the table for whitecaps. Cute. The sailboat napkins are perfect for the blue and white transferware plates.

Laurie, I think this table is just perfect...so very creative to make the napkins into sail boats & I agree the ruffles DO look like waves!

All your pretty blues play together so well. I had a set of steak knives that matched your flatware & I gave them away years ago because, at the time, I didn't have anything blue. *Kick~Kick* I'm not getting rid of any more stuff!!! My DD can do it when I'm gone.

Thanks for sharing the directions on the napkins. It would be cute for a grandson's birthday!

Hugs,
Rett
