RED WHITE AND BLUE CELEBRATION

Bargain Hunting with Laurie

I have THE BEST personal shopper.  She not only knows what I like; she knows that no matter how much I like it, I won’t pay full price!  My sister-in-law, Brenda, called me about a gift store in her area that was going out of business.  She described a metal patriotic wagon that she knew I would love.  When she told me the price, I screamed, “yes, get it for me before someone else snaps it up!”

Bargain Hunting with LaurieIsn’t that the cutest thing?  When she was checking out, the sales person told her it was supposed to have a casserole dish in it.  I just happened to have a dark blue casserole that fit it.  Okay, there’s more to this story.  You’re going to wish Brenda was your sister-in-law before I finish this story.

For my birthday, Brenda gifted me with this adorable matching cutlery holder, and

the matching napkin holder, and

this wonderful matching cake stand (which I used to elevate my centerpiece, since I didn’t bake a cake).  I cut some of those peonies, which you may remember seeing bent over on the ground in my Backyard post.  No, Brenda cannot be your sister-in-law, and you’ll have to contact her personally if you want her to be your personal shopper.  I’m so glad my sweetheart has a sister, who is not only a great friend to me, but also a great shopper for me!

So, with the addition of a few things I already had, I got the table ready for a Memorial Day celebration.

For patriotic days, I love to get out my Moda Home melamine plates that I bought at Tuesday Morning several years ago.  If you missed it, I shared my Memorial Day cloche in my previous post.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Memorial Day celebration, as we remember those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. laurie

You are so lucky to have such a wonderful sister-in-law! Such treasures. Hard to determine which is the favorite, but I think it has to be that cake stand.

I don't care what you say...Brenda is MINE!!! ALL MINE!!! I will inbox you my home address, and you are to wrap her up and send her to me immediately! Understand? Don't give me any lip, missy! Just get to it!!! :-)

What neat stuff!!!! Between you and Brenda, there's no way you could miss with this great patriotic table! I LOVE that little wagon, and I'm so glad you had a casserole dish that fit it AND was just the right color!!!

You have a LOT of those melamine plates. Remember: sharing is caring. Pack a few of them on top of Brenda, please. I'm sure she won't mind. ;-)

I love that red & white polka dot bowl and the fun striped straws!!! Perfect!!! And what a cute vase for your centerpiece!

Laurie, I hope that you and your family enjoy a terrific holiday weekend that is also a very SAFE one. I have to go now and wait by the door for the postman to deliver Brenda. I hope you remembered to poke holes in the top of the box! Otherwise, poor Brenda!!! :-( Don't worry, I'll just pop her in the dryer and she'll be good as new! :-)

Wow, you SIL has great taste, and so do you. I especially love the vintage dots bowl - I have one in black dots. Can't wait to use it at Halloween. Beautiful table setting.

Laurie,
I love so many items on your patriotic table! But my favorite 2 have to be those pretty plates and that cart that your SIL found for you. I have a SIL like that. She knows exactly what I like because we share the same taste. Love your bunting that's hanging up high, too!

Laurie, you do wonderful themed tables...you must have something for every holiday that exists! I really like your patriotic table...and that little wagon is adorable...but I ♥♥♥ that tablecloth. Tell me where you found it, please.
Yes, we all wish we had someone that is a personal shopper and knows our taste as well as your sister-in-law knows yours.
Have a fun-filled weekend, Laurie.

You had me from the wagon, and it is all just wonderful! I love every single patriotic piece and would really love to find some stuff like that for around here. It's versatile too, because there are so many different holidays in which to use it. You can do Memorial Day, Independence Day, Flag Day, election day, and really just any old day that you feel proud to be an American.

Give your SIL two thumbs up!

Marigene, I have had this tablecloth for about 15 yrs! I have no idea where I bought it, and it doesn't even still have a maker's tag on it. I wish it did, because I'd buy all of my cloths from that maker. It is amazing! After 15 years of using it, throwing it in the washer and dryer, and using it again and again, it still looks good. I've never ironed it! Thanks for stopping by.
