It has been said that freedom doesn’t come without a price, but some have paid a much higher price than others of us.
Some have lost limbs, or sight, or hearing. Others suffer daily from the psychological and biological effects of war.
And then, there are those who lost their lives, fighting for our freedom. A freedom we tend to take for granted. A freedom we don’t think about often enough.
On Memorial Day, we remember and give thanks for those whose lives were cut short so that we could be free.
For each of those who gave their lives, and those who live a life of less quality because of their fight for freedom, there is a family, and there are loved ones, who also suffer, and I also acknowledge their sacrifice.
To the men and women who have served and are serving in the United States military, I give you my heartfelt thank you. To the spouses, mothers, fathers, children, and friends, who stay behind and worry about, and even bury their loved ones, I give you my heartfelt thank you.
God bless America.
Land of the free and the brave.
I thank God that my sweetheart, who was sent to Viet Nam during our third year of marriage, returned to me whole. On Memorial Day, as I remember and honor those heroes who have paid such a high price, I will include those heroes who have had to continue their life journey without their loved one, or those who continue their life journey with a loved one who has been broken by their service to our country. laurie
