BABY THEME TABLESCAPE

Many of you have been praying for our grandson. For those of you who don’t know, our grandson was born prematurely four months ago.  He weighed 1 pound, 14 ounces.  He has spent the first four months of his life in the hospital.  When his parents are with him at the hospital, his 6 and 9 year-old sisters stay with us.  We were expecting him home the end of this week, so my granddaughters helped me set a “Welcome Home Cooper” table.

Our little Cooper is truly a miracle.  He has fought so many battles, and he’s an amazingly healthy looking, strong, and alert four month old.  He’s had more medical procedures than I’ve had in my lifetime.  He had one more milestone to pass before he could come home.  Today, he took the “car seat test”.  Because we live 3 hours from the hospital, he had to sit in a car seat for three hours.  He flunked.  His breathing and heart rates dropped after less than an hour in the car seat.  It doesn’t look like he’ll be coming home this weekend, but hopefully, very soon.

The tarnished shabby chic silver baby mugs were gifts to my children when they were born.

I’m not sure if we’ll be able to use this Welcome Home tablescape, or if another scape will have to be prepared before he comes home.

I want to again thank all of you who have been praying for Cooper.  We are so very touched by the prayers and concern of so many people.  God has given Cooper and his family the strength and courage to make it through this journey.  We know there will still be difficulties to face, but we believe the hardest part is behind us, and we praise God for our little miracle.

I’m not sure that children’s dishes and plastic plates qualify for Let’s Dish or Tablescape Thursday, but I’m linking this post to Cuisine Kathleen and Between Naps on the Porch. laurie

Laurie, I'm thrilled to know that Cooper is a healthy 4 month old. The car seat setback is disappointing, but he'll get past this hurdle too. Your tablescape is adorable. Your granddaughters had fun with this one. It was fun to see your vintage pieces too.

This is such a special tablescape! I know you all are anxiously waiting for Carter to come home. I bet the next time he is tested he'll pass. Our little Emma failed the car seat test a couple of times before she came home. Prayers for you all.

Smiles & hugs,
Carol

So glad to hear that Cooper will SOON be home! I know that his welcome home meal will be pure celebration. I love the vintage elements of the table, especially. I have my husband's silver baby cup and mine, too, and my silver teething ring looks a lot like your mother's.

I am amazed you had that little bottle and your Mom's teething ring still. Such neat things to cherish.

Laurie, sorry to hear that Cooper didn't get to come home...maybe in another week he will be strong enough. Adorable table...I have always been a Sesame Street fan...my kids grew up with it...in fact it was the only tv program they wanted to watch before going outside to play!

Hi Laurie, I’m sorry baby Cooper didn’t get to come home but isn’t it wonderful to have him tested before starting out? I’m sure he will past this test soon with flying colors. What a sweet welcome home for him, the table setting is adorable.

This had to be the greatest table you ever arranged. And it will be used soon and is a promise for that. He has touched the hearts of so many for a long time and we praise God for his life.

I know that he will someday have all the bounce of Tigger and that he already has all the sweetness of Pooh!
My love to Cooper and his family,
Dewena
