HURRY! IT’S MELTING!

fav_thngs_cmbnd_thumb[1][1] 07/16/10, EDITED TO ADD:  If you are here for Favorite Things Saturday, and you are thinking I don’t have it up yet, because you have already seen this post, you are right and you are wrong.  Yes, you’ve seen this post, but it IS my “Favorite Things Saturday” post too!  Sorry, you have to see it twice.  At least, if you’ve already commented on this post, you can get by without commenting this time!
Our granddaughter had her tenth birthday yesterday. She had a birthday cake at her party with her friends, so we had a family ice cream party (inspired by Marty’s Cloche Party and Suzy’s Ice Cream Social.) In our family, birthday celebrations go on for days!

I put this vintage toy under a cloche to portray the ice cream man.

Stemware turned upside down becomes a “cloche”, and an ice cream cone becomes a candle holder. (Don’t worry, the candle is battery operated).

And an ice cream cone becomes a flower holder.

Yes, those cones are in a floral frog. I did wrap the tips of the cones in aluminum foil before I put them in there. (Nobody who ate them is sick – yet!)

When I got ready to freeze ice cream balls, I couldn’t find my good ice cream scooper that makes pretty ice cream balls, and I had to use a different one. (I make the ice cream balls the day before and freeze them. In this heat, I could only make a few before I put them in the freezer; then make a few more and put those in the freezer.) Of course, after I got them all in the freezer, I found the good one! I don’t understand why things always turn up when I’m not looking for them, and I no longer need them!

I’m linking to Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday; A Stroll Thru Life for the Summer Cloche Party; and Kitchen Bouquet for the Ice Cream Social. Three fabulous hostesses for three fabulous events! TBLSCP T-CLCH-IC
07/16/10, EDITED TO ADD: I know this LOOKS like a “cop out” (maybe that’s because it is!). When I started thinking of a Favorite Things post, all I could think of is ice cream (which is one of my favorite treats – especially during the Summer), so this has now become my “Favorite Things” post, and I am also linking it to Summer Sundays at The Tablescaper. I’m getting a lot of mileage out of this post!
GetAttachment[1] As you can see, the ice cream balls are melting quickly, so make yourself a banana split (I did remember to put the bananas on the table before I served – just not before I took pictures), a coke float, or an ice cream sundae quickly. Thank you for coming to visit. laurie

My granddaughter had her birthday last Saturday, but she is too young to appreciate all the details. Loved her first taste of ice cream though! BTW, how did you get all that ice cream under that cloche and not have it melt asap!?

So glad I got to see this post. Not a cop out as some of us newbys would miss it! Love the idea. It looks straight from a magazine. Even with the curtains in the background, it looks like it might be a real ice cream parlor being shot from inside the parlor. Love the ideas you gave, so creative and not everything had to be a cloche but gave the same effect.
