THE WINTER BALL

tablescape I’m so excited about the Cloche Party Friday at A Stroll Thru Life, I started my party a little early. Tomorrow, I will add a few more cloches to my blog for the Cloche Party. (No, I’m not going to add more cloches to this already over-crowded table!)

Glenda at Dab of This and That plays with her atrium all of the time, and it looks like so much fun. (Actually, I’ve been a little envious of her atrium). Recently, when I found one at Hobby Lobby, I had to buy it (Glenda, I wanna be just like you when I grow up!) Of course, some of the plastic panes were broken, so I got a real deal on it. FLL TBL MOS

See the young lady playing the bagpipes for the Winter Ball? Don’t forget to take your dance card from that young man. I know your card will fill up quickly. You may need to take two cards.

ATRIUM MOS

I’m not sure why I have two of the same figurines of a dancing couple, but I was glad that I did, since it allowed me to have a similar view into the atrium from both sides of the table. Most of the figurines were my mother's. Others are from estate and garage sales.

plac setng dnr mos

I used a mirror as a place mat for each setting. (Another purchase at the recent Hobby Lobby sale. These were in the candle department, where everything was 40% off that day). A glass plate is on top of my wedding china (Moonspun by Lenox). I'm using the Moonspun dinner plates sort of like a charger, so that I can leave it on the table when I remove the glass plate to serve dessert. The stemware is also Lenox Moonspun. I used nut cups (purchased at a gift store's "going-out-of-business" sale) for salt cellars, and I used my mother’s flatware.

DESSERT MOS

I’m serving dessert in silver champagne goblets. Yes, I said SILVER! After seeing all of the beautiful silver on other blogs, I finally decided I would go unwrap some of mine and see how it looked. (I previously told you that all of my silver has been wrapped up for years, because I hate to would prefer to not polish silver. I took the aluminum foil off of these goblets and put them on the table. I did not polish them. Of course, you will notice that I dimmed the lights for dessert. (I really dimmed the lights in case the goblets needed polishing.) The champagne goblets were wedding gifts.

OVRHD
I thought that bunching up tulle for a table runner would give the idea of snow drifts. I'm afraid it gives the idea of a mess, but after I got all of that stuff on top of it, I was too lazy to take it all off and start over!

Don’t forget the cloche party tomorrow at A Stroll Thru Life, and please come back to visit me for the party, because I will be adding some more cloches for the big party day! Of course, you will find wonderful tablescapes at Between Naps on the Porch today. Thank you so much for coming to see my table FULL of a Winter Ball. laurie

I admit it, when it comes to gracious living, I'm just a wannabee. I'd love to be able to have the variety and number of options you have, but only if I could make my table as lovely as yours. I enjoy your flair for putting all these disparate things together and making it all look so wonderful. Sadly, I have neither the talent nor the variety. Soooo, I'll just drool over yours!!

Just out of curiosity, do you actually use these tables to serve actual meals or are they "display only"?

Oh, Laurie! I love that atrium! It is beautiful. I am so planning a trip to Hobby Lobby (there isn't one really close to my house), but I'm going to one soon. I can't wait. You found some great stuff. I had never heard of keeping silver in tin foil. Is that a secret (like a helpful hint)? If it helps it NOT to tarnish, please let me know! :)

I have atrium envy! True, I am in love with them. Susan uses them all the time in her tablescapes and they are just gorgeous! And I too wanna be just like Glenda when I grow up - she is such a doll. And so are you Laurie!!!

Kim

if i were a fairy...delicate and light....i would wander about your table...throughout the evening's night...waltzing in a forest of glass...sauntering with my elf king...with his sword and sash!

Now I want an atrium too!! LOVE IT! What a fabulous winter ball 'scape! Love the runner and it does look like snowdrifts (not messy!) and the edging on the doilies on the cake plates particularly makes a snow effect. The mirror placemats are perfect (want some of those too!) and the layering of your plates looks great. I like the cloches too and will be sure to be back to check out what else you do for Marty's party.

What a pretty table! You really did a great job. I love your atrium! Did you put the light in it, or did it come with a light? Now I want a light in my birdcage!! :-D You are funny - You would not want to be like me right now. My house is a mess and have not done anything decorative in a while.

Okay, this is gorgeous! I want to come dig through that closet of yours!!! I love, love the atrium. The cloches look great. I think the tulle did just fine, I like how it turned out. It does look like a snowy ball by invitation only, of course. Lovely!

You never cease to amaze me Laurie! This table is exquisite! It's like a ethereal wonderland!
I had such plans for my cloche entry, but granddaughter #2 was born and there went those plans! If there was a cloche contest and I was the judge: you win!

Stunning! ♥♥♥ the centerpiece with the little birds sitting atop the roof. The silver wine stems are fabulous, polished or not. Thank you for sharing your magical table.

Laurie, wonderful winter theme table. Clever to host a ball in a glass castle! Love the idea of using mirrors as a placemat. I'm going to remember that idea!!!
Each of your details are perfect, even the tulle, and I'm of course happy to see that silver out of the closet and on the table. Yea! Are we going to see some more?

I found an atrium this week too! At a thrift/antique store -- not one bit of glass in it, but that didn't stop me -- I guess it's just an atrium skeleton! Love your ball pictures -- makes me feel like I'm wearing glass slippers.. Your table is so beautiful!
