HARVEST HOME TABLESCAPE and LAURIE POSTED A CRAFT!

Today I'm posting a simple fall tablescape to link to Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch. I used to complain about stores rushing the seasons, and now y'all have ME rushing the seasons, so I can keep up with all of you on my blog!

Y'all know I NEEDED some new plates, right? Look at these plates I got at an estate sale Saturday. They were a deal, because there were 7 plates. I assume one had been broken. There are 4 different scenes of village cottages on these plates. I had to go ahead and use them on my table, because I still haven't found a place to put them in the cabinets! They are currently in my dishwasher, so now I HAVE to find a place for them before I unload the dishwasher. I am going to have to get rid of SOMETHING! I don't drink coffee, but my husband does. I told him the other day he needs to quit drinking coffee, so I can get rid of the coffee mugs and have another shelf for plates, but he didn't show any interest in giving up his coffee for more plate space!

I served a stew-type dish in a clear glass bowl on top of these plates. When I serve this recipe, some of my family like to add a little relish on top. I used my childhood Camark Pottery cup and my mother's toothpick holder for the relish.

You are not going to believe this ... Laurie is posting a craft! I wish I could say that I had come up with this idea and then crafted it (well, I guess I could say it, but I'm not going to). I bought somebody else's craft at an estate sale! (Aren't I crafty?) When I saw these at the sale, I realized that the price on them was less expensive than the materials would be for me to make them. I also realized that they wouldn't be difficult to make. The crafter had cut a round piece of fabric and glued layers of faux leafs to it. So, that's MY craft project!!! Now, please don't tell me that y'all have already made these years ago!

Look at this-- even the backs of my new plates are cute!

[Flatware} purchased at estate sale long ago; Stemware}our "every day" wedding selection (that was back when everything was either avocado green or harvest gold!); napkin rings}I think Pier One a year or so ago; napkins}I have no idea!]

Y'all know what you do next, right? Go visit our lovely hostess, Susan at Between Naps On the Porch, so you can get links to tablescapes all over Blogville. As always, I just "luv" having you visit my blog. I am so proud to be a part of a group who support each other with words and in prayer, and who have responded to pleas on several blogs to send cards to Amy (see my previous post). What a caring community this is! I know our little corner of Blogville must have THE BEST BLOGGERS in Cyberland!

Hi Laurie,

Or is that full with dishes already? LOL. We have color like you wouldn't believe already, come by and see when you can. Hugs, Cindy

The table is gorgeous. It is warm and inviting. And I can see hints of fun too. Love the miniature houses as a centerpiece and the green cup that looks like leaves :-)

Oh Laurie, I so love this post. These plates are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I love the scenes on each of them. How beautiful, and you wonder when you buy something at an estate sale what the story is behind them. Thanks for sharing sweetie.

I am so glad you stopped by and read my precious poem for my Amy Girl. Debbie and I spoke at length last night on the phone. I had her laughing for a good hour. Laughing is good for the heart and soul. She told me in our conversation how much she loved my poem, and yes I had hit the nail square on the head with the hammer. I was right on when I spoke for Amy in my poem. She went on to tell me that I will have to read that poem one last time for my Amy Girl. I don't know if when the time comes I will be able to do it, but for my Amy Girl I will try. I have always had such a connection with her. Debbie so wants me to read it tho. Pray for me strength when the time comes. Thank you for being so wondeful to our precious family. The cards have meant so much to Amy, and anything that has made her smile, has made me happy. God Bless you sweet lady. Country hugs and love, Sherry

A great table and what terrific plates. I think I would hunt for the missing one and if you got them at enough of a bargain you could pay more for that last one!

Well Laurie, this is just as pretty and creative as it can be! The husband won't give up his coffee. Take it from someone who took up the habit just a few years ago. It's a morning ritual. I seriously think you have more fun than a barrel full of monkeys!

So pretty and Autumnal! I love the placemats. I may even give it a try....doesn't look too hard.

Kathleen said...

Oh I remember making place mats like that when I was a Brownie 50 years ago...LOL!

No kidding they are very pretty, I may steal the idea...so will a lot of us, but I am being up front about it!! :)

Your new plates are very pretty, and the whole table makes me want to bob for apples..but that is a NO NO..piggy flu you know...

all those germs swirling around in the apple bobbing tub! OINK!

Great idea about losing the mugs..he can use a paper cup and fold it up and keep it in his pocket..kidding!

I cleared a whole shelf in the pantry ..brought the food down to church, so I could make room for the dishes...So now we have no food to put ON the dishes..:)

Laurie, what a warm and cozy and beautiful tablescape.. I love your new plates and boy aren't you the crafty one! LOL I love the pottery in the centerpiece and the elevated little table thingy..so clever.. Are your glasses Provencial by Mikasa? I think they are the same ones that we had when we got married..although I haven't gotten any left... you take very good care of your things.. too many kids loading the dishwasher here. Well sweetie, as always you set a delightful table and spin a delightful tale. Love, Cindy

Laurie your table is always so pretty! Love the craft you didn't do!! I went thrifting and saw some great silk flowers for fall but thought they were a little pricey for thrifting (I am so cheap!) till I went to Hobby Lobby after wards and saw the prices of their flowers! Should have scarfed them up!

It's getting cold here in Co and I think I have a little inkling to start fall decorating! ( I am still complaining about missing all of summer though!)

Laurie,

Your plates ARE cute and the whole table looks beautiful! What a deal you got and it's nice that you can mix and match.

A good storage idea is the plastic bins you see at Target, Walmart, etc. They stack nicely. Take a picture of one of the dishes and print it out, tape it to the front of the bin and you know just what you have stored. These bins also slide under beds. Hope this helps a bit. Those quilted bags for china cost more than china!!

The craft idea is great. Even I, with my 3 thumbs could manage this! Thanks!!

xoxo

Hi Laurie, thanks for adding me to your prayer list, I really appreciate your concern. The doctor put me on meds for my irregular heartbeat. I will also be doing more blood tests for the elevated liver enzymes. Hopefully that is nothing, it can be caused by ibuprofin and I had taken some the day before. I go for more blood tests in a few weeks so I will let you know what I hear.

I will be happy to make you another fall frame. I've sold a few of that particular one. You can send me a check or pay through paypal. Whatever works best for you! Thanks!! Kristen

It's going to take me a month of Sunday's to catch up with everyone! I have 68 blogs, back on my list and I know I had at least 160, on the one I lost. I'm still working on that, plus we're working on our room. What I really want to do is take a nap, instead of decorate!;-)

Anyhoo, I love this table Laurie. Those plates are beautiful. I really think I should look for more dishes, don't you?

Have a great weekend!!

OMG Laurie, What gorgeous dishes. They are beautiful. I am a dish nut, but have calmed down considerably. Tablescapes, I only wish I had a peek into gorgeous table ideas when I entertained so much when we lived in Hong Kong. Now that was the land of dishes. You would have loved it there. There were streets lined with shops that only sold all kinds of china, antiques on Hollywood road and English China shops in the mall.

Your table ideas are always stunning.

Hi Laurie,
It looks like I am the 42nd person to comment on your post today, I hope you still have the energy to read it.

Thanks for dropping by my blog and leaving your lovely comment. I am so sorry I haven't been to visit for such a while as work has called me away for the last five months.

Now, I just need to say, my goodness!!!, I just noticed that you are 60 years old and you do not look anything like a 60 year old in your gorgeous photograph.

I hope your well and enjoying life, I'm having lots of fun at present, however there are just not enought hours in the day to do all the things I want to do.

I love your Autumn leaves, just beautiful. The best thing about blogging is that I get to see your Autumn while I'm living in Spring. Two of my favourite times of the year.

Have a happy week.

xxxx and hugs Coty

Hi, Laurie, The plates are just wonderful! Love the crafty! I want a sunflower! Oh, by the way Susan says I should come and ask you, You got a cake plate somewhere, and it has butterflies and strawberries on it. It matched my Wedding China that got all broke the day before we were married. I do not remember the name of it and was thinking your cake plate might have the name on it, my dinner plates have an unreadable sticker on it. I have 3 dinner plates, a creamer and a chipped cup. I saw a set in Virgina, how I wish I would have bought it, but then I was collecting crystal and enamelware. I was working on the road, Thought I was passed that time in my life of butterflies and strawberries. I find my self wanting it dearly again! Susan's fault for creating Tablescape Thursday, for I love to use in on my screen in porch, which I hope gets built while I recovering From October's surgery.
Know the name???????

Now I went by Ceekay's and listen about blogging issues, I have to sit and wait NOW to make sure my comment is left, for I have many many times it did not post the last few months, hence me missing! I have been busy, working on the house remodel to get all the things I can do,getting to a stopping point. Oh, I do not know if my comment posted on Ceekay! lol Oh, if you happen to see comments left by Simple Man Makin It Do, It is me, for I run hubby's blog he does not know how to do it. When I on his blog I sometimes forget to sign out and he has ladies finding his blog and Thanking him for what they thought he said. I would love love to come visit your lovely home! I wish so much you could come to our luncheon on Friday!
Your post has given me an idea, I have a wish list on my blog, I think I going to think of somethings I like and see if my family get me them for Christmas! How fun! lol

I came back to see if my letter posted! lol Oh, I meant I do love the leaf so much, but when you turned it on the back I could just could see a sunflower would be great!
