TABLESCAPE THURSDAY-THREE BIRTHDAYS IN ONE!

Last week, two of our family members had birthdays, and next week another of our family members has a birthday, so this weekend, I am having three birthday celebrations with one dinner. The one interest that all of these family members share is a love of dogs, so I am using a dog centerpiece for all three birthday tables.

On the birthday table for my son-in-law, I attempted a masculine look. I only have four of these plates (Autumn Waves by Casafino), and I needed to seat six people at this table.

So, on each end of the table, I used plates from another set of four that I have (Oralia by Pier 1). Hopefully, they all coordinate well enough.

Happy Birthday Scott!
We will also be celebrating my daughter-in-law's birthday.
Happy Birthday Mindy!

For her table, I wanted a more feminine look. The table runners on all of the tables match each other. I thought that might tie the three parties together.

When I went to get my Bunnies on Sticks at Pier One last week, I found these table runners marked down to $5.00. They only had three of them, so I bought all of them and tried to make all three tables work with the colors in the runner. (Royal Doulton dinner plates)

The table for my daughter-in-law seemed to need a little bling, so I added these napkin rings that I also got at Pier One (in the marked down bin)! I hope we don't have any more Blogville parties that involve me going to Pier One--I ran in there to get a Bunny on a Stick and came out with a huge bag full of table decor!

Linda, Mom of a German Shorthair, used this flatware in a tablescape on RMS, and said that it came from Target. Since everything Linda does turns out so beautifully, I had to rush to Target and get some of this flatware for myself (I always think that mine will look better if I have the same thing that is on the table of someone whose decor I admire)!

My grandson, who just turned five, loves anything with wheels, so I decided to add trains and fire trucks to his dog tablescape. I used a chalkboard dog in the center of the children's table. I got this dog in the markdown aisle at Hobby Lobby several years ago. I meant to light the candles in the birthday trains before I took these picture.

Plastic plates that resemble real china make the grandchildren feel like big people. (I got these at Tuesday Morning several years ago. They are made by Precidio). I frequently use them outside, but they also work great for grandchildren.

Small chalk boards, which my sister-in-law bought when her school was cleaning out old supplies, became place mats on the children's table. When they finish their dinner, they can write on the place mat while they wait for birthday cakes to be served.

Now I'm off to get the links to all of the beautiful tablescapes in Blogland at Susan's blog, Between Naps on the Porch.

You'll go there too if you want to see incredible creativity. Thank you so much for joining my little birthday party. laurie

All of your tables look great! I like the way you coordinated them all, yet they all have their own theme. I love the chalk boards on the children's table.

My goodness, Laurie. I don't know how you do all you do and still work. My brain is dead from traveling. I should probably do something special for Larry's birthday today, but it will be leftover pasta and the same old plates and placemats.

My goodness, I was going crazy trying to do one tablescape and you did 3!!! You amaze me. I love all three tables, each one is so different. I like that you mixed the dishes, I think that gives the table such interest, and all the colors are just gorgeous. The masculine table is so warm and manly without going over the top and the feminine table is just so flowery and cheery, and again not over the top. The kids table is just adorable. I love the idea of using plastic china, it really does look real. They're all gorgeous Laurie, great job. Hugs, Marty

I have those Target silverware pieces. I love them! I used it for Christmas, now Easter, or any special occasion. I had to buy a service for 12. I am sure your family appreciates all your hard work. My goodness, three birthdays and all the tables were so perfect! Nice work.

I love your grandson's table the best. The chalkboards as place mats is so clever. Good way to keep them occupied. I like how you tied all the tables together with the runners & the dog theme, yet each table is so different. Great job!

And I know what you mean about going into a store to get just one item & coming out with a whole bag full of goodies. Happens to me all the time. When I went to Pier One to get my bunny, I told myself to only look at the bunnies, nothing else. I didn't want to get tempted. But of course, I looked at everything. Luckily for me I wasn't in a spending mood so I only got the bunnies. Whew! That was a close call, but I survived.

Hi Laurie,
My mind is made up...... I am coming down to see just where you house all your dishes. The party ones were so nice, and, really, all the rest, but I favor the first one under the birthdays.
How do you do it all ? A few maids hiding in the kitchen ?? Me thinks that's you.
I have a fan that is circulating over at my place and I would like to pass this award on to you. When you get a minute, ha, ha, drop over and take one home with you ~ you might need it one of these days.

I have a dish question for you -- I have seen these dishes that I would walk down South to get, but I cannot find them anywhere. Ma Maison, and I'm sure they are very popular ? Wow, I would get moving and entertain with those. I checked Tablescape, with no luck and Replacements. If you ever see an add, ring me on the telly, ok,... well internet.
Have a good Easter week.

Hugs,
Connie
