BIRTHDAY DINNER FOR A TEEN
It kills me to admit this, but our oldest granddaughter is now a teen – just barely. She turned 13 this week. Oh, how did she grow up so fast, and when I did I grow old enough to have a 13 year-old grandchild?
Since she thinks she is now an adult, I didn’t want her birthday dinner table to look childish, so I tried to make the table look a little bit sophisticated.
But, since I think she’s still a little girl, I wanted the table to be fun. I used every color I could find in my table setting stock. You may need to get your sunglasses for this post! I used four different colors and styles of metal napkin rings.
I can’t remember whether I ordered the bright green metal chargers from One Kings Lane or from Joss & Main. I’ve had them awhile, but haven’t found an occasion to use them until now.
The polka dot salad plates are Bistro Collection by Amici. To provide a little relief from all of the color, I used white dinner plates by Gibson. For some reason, I could only find 6 of my Gibson plates, so on each end of the table, I used the pierced dinner plates, Valerie by Portmeirion Studio.
I think I bought this stemware on sale at Kohl’s several years ago.
The flatware is Duplex Spring Stripe by Cambridge Silversmith’s.
For a centerpiece, I used purple Iris from our yard in multi-colored stemware. The bright pink flower-shaped plates under each stem are unmarked melamine.
Thank you so much for reading my blog. Don’t forget to remove your sunglasses before you visit another blog! laurie
