PURPLE RAIN ON THE BEACH TABLESCAPE!

What do you do when your teen granddaughter, whose favorite color is purple, requests beach food for her birthday dinner?

I'll show you what I did. I started with place mats that remind me of beach mats. They also have one strip of purple thread in them. I topped each of those with a purple rimmed plate and a purple napkin. I used baking sea shells to hold a roll at each place setting.

I added seashells and umbrellas to the center of the table. I decided there'd be a small shower on the beach, and if it has to rain on a purple-loving granddaughter's beach-themed table, the rain should be purple.

Vintage fish-shaped snack plates held lemons for the fish and butter for the rolls.

So now you know how I ended up with a purple rain on the beach theme for this table. Yes, my mind really works that way, and, no I haven't been diagnosed with a mental disorder -- yet.
Thank you for coming to see our celebration.

Hi, Laurie! You have got to know that pretty much everyone who sees this blog is going to have that Prince song stuck in their head all day long!!! What a fun concept! Your granddaughter has a great grandmom who knows how to get to the heart of her desires!

I'm with Alycia! I have the Prince song stuck in my head now!! What a wonderful Grandmother!! Any grandma who can set a purple table to please their granddaughter is good in my book!!! I don't think I own much of anything purple - so kudos to you for pulling this off!
