BACK TO SCHOOL DINNER

Five of our six grandchildren will be going back to school next week, so I hosted my annual back-to-school dinner for them.

I started the place settings with vintage chalkboards. They ate from cafeteria style plates and their napkins were secured with the "keys to success".

The centerpiece was made up of vintage school
items. I used a chalkboard in the center with milk bottles in a metal carrier on top of it. The milk bottles held ink pens for them to take home.

My mother's school book entitled "With Pencil and Pen" seemed like an appropriate addition.

The "good luck school fairy" is a tradition at our back to school dinners.

I labeled an extra napkin ring with a mini chalkboard labeled "keys 2 knowledge".

I included a vintage pencil holder in the décor.

My vintage toy typewriter held advice for the school year.
They were a little surprised that I was advising them to make mistakes.

An apple for the teacher is surrounded by more of my mother's school books and chalk for writing on their "placemats".

I love this book cover.

I can't believe they are already starting back to school. It doesn't seem possible that the summer months are gone. Are you ready for your children or grandchildren to go back to school?

I'm so glad you came by today.

Hi,
Your back to school Tablescape is so sweet! Your Mother's school books are adorable . I love old children's books.

Your grand children are lucky to have such a thoughtful Grandmother, who encourages them with a celebratiion before going back to school.

All the Best,
Jan

I love all you did with your back to school decor. Your grand kids must love coming to your house to see what special treat they get to take home, and to see how you decorated.
School starts on Monday the 14th here. It is still so hot (107). Our summer goes on forever it seems.

What a wonderful idea and a most fun table! I'm betting the grandkids look forward to this tradition.
