A couple of months ago, my sweetheart and I accidentally bought a real fixer-upper. Thinking the seller wouldn't accept, we made a very low offer. The seller accepted, so, that's how we accidentally bought a house. WARNING: Proceed with caution. These pictures are not pretty!
It's going to need a LOT of work. See those peach colored kitchen cabinets?
This was nice carpet when it was installed.
The same carpet was in the den area.
We pulled up the carpet and found pine wood floors!
The walls and floors will require some serious manual labor.
Are you wondering why we bought this shack? This is our view from the screened porch. I hope we'll be able to make it a fun place where we can make a lot of great memories with our grandchildren.
I know we'll enjoy a lot of sunsets from our back porch.
I'll be posting updates of our work on this house, so stay tuned for more fixer-upper posts. (Joanna and Chip, I REALLY need you in Arkansas.)

Back at home, this was our yard yesterday. Those are not pieces of paper floating in the air. They're giant snowflakes.
Yesterday's snow-covered trees.
The same trees today in our 50 degree temps. We're not kidding when we say, if you don't like the weather when you visit Arkansas, stick around, because it'll be different tomorrow.
I'm so glad you stopped by to see our fishing shack lake cottage.

We say the same about weather here in Idaho. By the way, my grandparents were originally from Arkansas. Maybe that's why they felt so at home in Idaho. :)
Love the house! It has so much potential! I even like the look of the knotty pine walls, and what a bonus to find the wood flooring. Can't wait to see what you do with this bargain purchase!
Wow, Laurie, you "accidentally" bought a house?? I love it! Y'all will have a great time fixing it up to suit you. Love that huge screened porch!
Laurie, Wow, your accidental house purchase may turn out to be the best accident ever. Yes, it requires a lot of work but that view from the front porch is amazing! And, what luck to find the wood floors under the carpet. I'm sure it will be a lot of fun making it your own. What better way to spend time with family than a lake cottage. Congratulations! I look forward to your "fixer upper" posts.
Wow!!good luck with the Reno!
LOVE it! thanks
HAHA....I could use Chip and Joann also but it is cause I only want a redo. You do have a fixer upper but how cool is that. You get to make it your own. I am not crazy about the cabinet color....but I love the little curved shelves that come out of the cabinet. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
Your new house looks like it has lots of charm. Decorating and fixing it up will be fun and to have all the kids there - your going to love it.
Looking forward to seeing the progress on your Lake Cottage.

Laurie, I love your fixer upper. If it is near Blytheville, I would like to make a little higher offer so you don't need to work so hard on the place. 😉 We wouldn't want you to wear yourself out.
