TRANSITIONAL MANTEL

Winter Mantel Decor-Bargain Decorating with Laurie

When I take down the Christmas décor, I suffer from the dulldrums. You probably know what I'm talking about. Our home just looks bland, and the weather outside is often kind of bland too.

I have to make my transition out of Christmas gradually. I left the sparkly Holly branches on the mantel. I just transferred the branches to one vase in the center instead of one on each end.

My red plaid chargers from Michael's are a backdrop for these Winter Greeting Lenox plates. These two birds are the Downy Woodpecker and the Nuthatch.

This one is a Cedar Waxwing. Bare-branched Winter trees "grow" among the bird plates.

These two are an Eastern Bluebird and a Cardinal.

The last winter bird on the mantel is a House Finch.

Now when I fix myself a cup of hot chocolate and sit on the ottoman in front of a warm fire, I can wrap my legs in the red plaid throw and look at the bright mantel and the pretty Winter birds, and it becomes a little easier to face the early Winter dulldrums.

Do you have early Winter dulldrums? How do you deal with this malady?

I hope you're staying warm and cheerful in your home. Thank you for visiting our home.

I like the birdies on your mantel. I left my green garland up on my mantle - granted I took down the stockings and red berries from it, but I agree, it is so boring outside why not leave something cheery inside?

That looks. Nice and peaceful. Won't be long and you can put up Valentine decor. Someday I wish you would do a post on where you store all your decor, and how you organize it so you know where to find each holiday and different plates.

Your mantle look so good Laurie and I love the birds. Yes, I have the dull drums also. The weather is so so and cold for us California's and we have finally been having the much needed rain and I hope there is a lot more to come.

Have a great week Laurie. How's your little grandson?
Hugs,
Mary

Hi Laurie, what a beautiful wintertime mantel. I love the plaid plates behind the gorgeous bird plates. So cozy and inviting to enjoy this month with the colder darker days. Thanks for sharing and always the inspiration.

I totally love your mantle. I love anything plaid, so the chargers aleady had my vote. I am going to go directly from Christmas to Valentine's Day. My cheapy little pink tree will soon be decorated as soon as I find all of my other things. I just today got all of my Christmas packed away. I have left my snowmen up and my greenery out. I will begin adding in the Valentine things soon. Of course, I do not have as much good stuff as you do, but I simply do not have the room to store things. You have such lovely pieces that you have been collecting for years. I am so impressed with your ability to rearrange things and keep it fresh.
