BIRTHDAY(S) DINNER

Birthday Celebration-Bargain Decorating with Laurie

My financial situation in April is close to what it is at Christmas. Both of my children were born in April, and they both married people who were born in April.  I have one big birthday dinner for all of them.

Since about half of the people at the table were celebrating birthdays, I used chalk painted place mats, so I could write happy birthday on the place settings for the birthday guests.

For those not celebrating a birthday, I wrote our names on our place mats.  I bought the plates at an after-Christmas sale at Dillards a couple of years ago (Gourmet, Nova Rouge).  The comic character tumblers were sold by Pepsi in the 1970's.  I bought them at my sister-in-law's yard sale. Her husband, David, had collected them. They provide dinner entertainment for us. Family members try to trade tumblers, saying that another person is more like "Daffy Duck", etc., than they are.

My granddaughter, Madison made this cookie jar for me for Christmas.  I wrote the birthday celebrant's names on it.

The red and black plaid coats on my Scottie salt and pepper shakers matched my color scheme.

I carried out the theme with a chalkboard on the wall behind the table.  We all chalked birthday messages on it.

To say that these pictures were taken in a hurry would be an understatement.  In some of the pictures, I didn't even have the tumblers on the table yet!

Thank you for joining us for our family birthday party.

This post is partying with Centerpiece Wednesday at The Style Sisters  and Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch.

Hi Laurie, What fun you created for all the family birthdays. April is a big month in my family too with 5 having birthdays.
Great chalk board placemats. Sweet cookie jar your grand made for you at Christmas. Love the theme with your settings and those vintage Pepsi glasses are a perfect accent. My hubby worked for PepsiCo/FritoLay for 35 years.
Happy Birthday to all!!
Hugs, CM

So clever! I love all your chalkboard pieces---especially the placemats! We have 4 birthdays in April as well and they became a part of our Easter celebration! Your table looks like the start of a fun collective birthday party! Rosie @ The Magic Hutch

I love those place mats, Laurie! You found a bargain with those, for sure. Your Scottie S & P's are adorable, too. That's almost unbelievable that you have all four birthdays in April, children and spouses! Of course you celebrate them together...who could do otherwise? I'm sure everyone had a fabulous time trading those cartoon glasses around. I laughed out loud when you told that part of it. Thanks for sharing your table and your family fun. :-)
Blessings~
