FALL DECORATING

Fall decor
There was a little nip in the air this weekend in Arkansas.  It inspired me to get out my pretty velvet pumpkins, which were made by my friend, Susie.
Fall decor 1
I am so blessed to have such a talented and generous friend.  Along with the velvet pumpkins, I used some mercury glass pumpkins that I bought on sale after Thanksgiving a couple of years ago.

Fall decor 3
A wreath of berries and a Fall tag (also crafted by Susie) decorate the lamp.
Fall decor 4
The vintage gold vases were a gift from my friend, Audrey.  I’ve had the decorative leaf plates for a long time.

Susie also crafts, and generously gives away, velvet acorns.  Some of them, along with a couple of her pumpkins are under this cloche.  (I know you’re wishing that Susie was your friend.)

On the table with the cloche, I have used “grape gatherers”.  The boy and girl figures came from a flea market.
Fall decor 7
I purchased the needlepoint piece at an estate sale years ago.

Wishing you Autumn Blessings.
A huge thank you to those who sent me such kind messages following my last post.  I’m still working on my attitude, but your messages meant so much to me, and I am grateful for each of you.  Wishing you a lovely “nip- in-the-air” week.  laurie
(P.S.  I still haven’t figured out why a “pin it” button doesn’t work on my site.  I have had to install the “hovering pin it button.  (If you hover over an image with your curser, a small pin button appears in the top left corner of the image.) I hope it doesn’t drive you crazy, but right now, it’s the only way to allow my images to be pinned.)

Your home is so warm and beautiful, Laurie. Your Fall décor is inspiring me to decorate too but I have to wait until I get home. I plan to go home before the end of the month and stay home for at least 3 weeks, since Rea will be isolated with Rochelle for her autologous bone marrow transplant, so I won't be able to visit in the hosp. anyway....Christine

I've been hanging on to summer, but with temps dropping to the 40's at night, I can't deny fall. So far my only concession is mums on the porch!

Everything looks so pretty Laurie! This weekend I finally did a little "September decor". I'm easing into the autumn season.

I have (finally) at 64 realized you don't have to make everything for fall pumpkins and corn stalks... I like how you used things you have for your decorations, and you gave me a great idea for my old silver tray!

It has been so hot here, it seems like summer lasts half the year. I am looking forward to some cooler temps.
You have some generous friends, and yes, I wish they would adopt me. lol.
Love all your fall goodies

Hi Laurie, your home is gorgeous and for fall you have it decorated so beautifully. I love our velvet pumpkins and the tiny acorns are so cute.
The needlepoint is precious and goes perfectly with your set of grape gathering folks.

I want you to know what an inspiration you are to me and I look forward to your posts. Knowing you are here makes blogging all the more fun.
Blessings to you sweet friend.

Hi, Laurie. I so want to make some velvet pumpkins! They are stunning. Your grape gatherers are so interesting and unique, beautiful and fun! The framed needlepoint inside the drawer brings a little of "grandma" memories, due to the aged and worn look. After reading your post the other day, I want to tell you that I struggle with "purpose", as well. You are not alone, although you probably feel like it sometimes. I love seeing your "finds"! My favorite thing is your list people needing prayer. Sometimes I scroll down the list and pray for them, although many are unknown to me. You absolutely ARE making that kind of a difference, among others. You and I don't decorate like the younger crowd, but we don't need to make "built-ins" from Ikea shelves. We have the old, the worn and well-used, and the loved, furnishings with history in our homes (or homes of others) - the best kind, no matter if they are Pinterest-worthy or otherwise. It's fine to blog for your own enjoyment. But, be assured, you make a positive impact on others. (Me, for one.) Look at it this way: blogging helps you see things differently and helps motivate you to serve your family more fully. Surely, at least some family members appreciate your hard work and efforts to serve them so well. I think the blogs making tremendous incomes have a certain "look" and loads of work to achieve that. Keep showing your wonderful and unique personality. Keep your heart in it. That is what speaks to others. Blessings to you!

I haven't even tried to put the pin it button on my blog yet. I keep meaning to try. For yours, I don't have a problem because that's the way I always do it anyway. I'm just a hover and pinner.

I loved the fall treasures on here. You most definitely are blessed to have a friend who can make things like that. I think this might be the first place where I saw velvet pumpkins in blog land a few years ago. I remember thinking they were so pretty. Love the mercury glass too. I don't have one stitch of that around here, and I like it, too.

I wish Susie were my friend! I have always wanted a velvet pumpkin, but I'm too stingy to purchase one. And those little velvet acorns are adorable! Love all your decorations, Laurie, and the change in weather has been nice here as well.

Lovely, Laurie! You are one lucky lady to have such a generous friend. : )

I wanted to tell you that I have been feeling similar to that post you wrote. Don't know what I'm going to do blog-wise, but so far I'm still plugging along.

I'm also having issues (just this week) with pinning from my blog. At least, I can't pin from my own blog, so I'm not sure what is going on.

I see you are a lover of the rich colors of Fall, just as I am. Those colors just make my heart sing. We are a long way from Fall weather, but decorating our home with all of my Fall treasures is helping me endure these last several weeks of AZ heat -- keeping the air turned low also helps! You have created some beautiful vignettes, Laurie.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and leave sweet comments on my latest post. My china cabinet is filled with my sweet MIL's china, and I like to think she knows when someone comments so sweetly about them. Thank you!
