PRESIDENTS’ DAY MANTEL

Mantel Decor

I’ve changed my mantel décor again.  I know, you’re not surprised.  You may be surprised that I am calling this blue and yellow mantel “President’s Day” décor though.

American Heritage plate

I love the color red, but during Christmas, New Years, and Valentine’s, there was red on the mantel.  I was ready for a change.  So, I got out a couple of my American Heritage Millennium Collection by Churchill.

I bought these plates at a flea market a few years ago, but when I’ve shown them on my blog before, someone said they were giveaways at a grocery store the year of the Millennium.  I love the combination of blue and yellow.

Staffordshire Ironstone

This little bowl depicts Mount Vernon on Staffordshire Ironstone.

Royal Warwick plate

Okay, I ran out of patriotic dishes in blue, so I confess, this is a scene in Scotland, produced by Royal Warwick.  I’m pretending that it represents “purple mountains majesty” and “sea to shining sea”.

I think everyone is really ready for Spring, and so am I.  The little tiny green leaves poking out between these wood flowers make me think of Spring popping out.

It won’t be long before I’ll be changing the mantel to greens in preparation for Cuisine Kathleen’s St. Patrick’s Day Blog Crawl.  I look forward to her annual Blog Crawl every year.  Kathleen is a riot, and she makes the blog crawl so much fun.

Thank you for visiting my blog.  laurie

It looks great Laurie! I too, ripped off the red and went with some touches of spring in the family room~I think we're all a little desparate!

I absolutely love the mantel. Blue and yellow are my favorite colors and I love that plate. The wood roses are so pretty and unique. I know most everyone is ready for spring. This has been a long and cruel winter.
Thanks for the touch of spring,
xoxo Ginger

Laurie, I wish I had some of your energy to change things up around here. Your blue and yellow is refreshing. Like it!

Wonderful job! Love the mix of things on the mantel. Those are great plates- both of them! I'm definitely ready for spring but I can't get too anxious as I know I have to get through all of March first!

What a lovely mantel...blue and yellow are so cheery during what seems to be the longest stretch of winter dreariness before spring finally arrives.
Have a wonderful week, Laurie!

Love this. One of these days I'm going to have to do some President decorating, but not this year. LOL!
