LALALOOPSY PARTY

Lalaloppsy Party-Bargain Decorating with Laurie
If you’re a grandmother, you know it is hard to say “no” to a grandchild.  So, when my six year-old granddaughter asked if she could have her seventh birthday party at my house, I told her I thought it would be fun.  (Truth be told, I do enjoy children’s parties.)  I suggested a circus theme (I have all of the décor for that), but she was having none of that.  She wanted a Lalaloopsy party!  Do you know who Lalaloopsy is?

Meet one of many Lalaloopsy dolls.  I do not know the name of each doll (although I hear the names frequently from my granddaughter.)  These are very collectible if you are seven years old or younger.  (Do you think my granddaughter is picking up my bad collecting habits?)

My granddaughter brought over all of her Lalaloopsies and the necessities that go with them (even though she said she would miss them overnight).  That is when I realized that Lalaloopsies have BIG heads.  They cannot sit or stand without something to support them, and even then, their heads might fall forward, causing them to take a nose dive onto the table.

Miniature Lalaloopsies aren’t quite as difficult to pose.

One of them drove her convertible around the table top.

One of them guarded the lollipops (she didn’t take her job very seriously though – the lollipops were quickly gone).

Another delivered lollipops in a cart behind her giant red horse.

Some brought their own houses with them (talk about making yourself at home)!

A few even rode a school bus to the party.  (Some of my polka dot plates [Bistro Collection by Amici] fit right in to the party theme)

There are a lot of buttons and bright colors involved in a Lalaloopsy collection.  You may have noticed that they all have button eyes and usually have buttons on their clothing.

My daughter-in-law drew circles on paper plates to make the button streamers on the doors.  I have got to learn how to take pictures when  the sun is shining behind what I’m photographing.  Any hints?
Have you been to a children’s party recently?  It really is a lot of fun, and I didn’t even mind that, after I worked to prop all of the dolls on the table, the girls grabbed them to play with (they did ask first).  Thank you for stopping by to meet Lalaloopsy.  laurie

Oh my gosh Laurie. Now I want to collect those Lalaloopsy dolls. LOL We don't have grandchildren yet, so I would have to take a course in what's hot, and what's not in children's toys. LOL What a sweet way to celebrate a birthday!

Great job Laurie!
Addison is just getting interested in lalaloopsy.
Right now she is still enamored by Dora and Sponge Bob.
Oh and Peppa Pig, that hilarious.
It's scary how well I know these huh.

Hugs,

Completely adorable, Laurie! Yes, we grandmothers are putty in our grandkids' hands. Great job carrying out the theme -- and I've learned something already today (at 5:46 a.m., no less) -- what a Lalaloopsy is!

How fun Laurie! I've never heard of lalaloopsy, but she is adorable! My granddaughter is just 8 months old but you can be sure she will be getting a doll from me for Christmas! What a darling party! How sweet she wanted you to have it at your house! I love the button plates and balloons, how clever! Let me know if you get any photo tips, I am always fighting back lit rooms too!

What an awesome grandma you have and so lucky to be living near your grand child. I love the party you threw. So cute and fun! Love the button plate streamers -- who would have thought. I have problems all the time with light in my dining room. That is a great question to pose. Such cute dolls. So glad she didn't ask you to do a party around Monster High (I think that is what they are called) dolls. LOL

I have never heard of the Lalaloopsies-- did I spell that right? But it's time I learned all about them since I have a little granddaughter. And her mommie is an artist who works with buttons a lot so I bet she knows about them.

Happy birthday to your granddaughter! I bet she is as cool as her grandmother! Such a pretty party decor, Laurie.
