4TH OF JULY SNIPPETS

The patriotic celebration begins at our back door.  It had been so hot all day, but when I started taking these pictures, there was just enough breeze to make my flags look blurry.

My poor old Uncle Sam is showing his age.

The buffet in our sunroom is showing its patriotism too.  Some day, I hope I’ll learn how to take photos in my sunroom without getting so much glare.

Long ago, I purchased these patriotic tiles at a junk store.  I thought I’d make a tray with them.  I decided that I could use them on plate stands until I got around to making the tray.  Since I’ve been doing that for about 10 years now, it is beginning to look like I am not going to make the tray.

In the next picture, I am sharing another of my purchases from the auction I recently posted about.  Do you know what this is?  Although I am probably one of a very few, I still use one of these, but mine is a boring, rectangular shape.

I know this picture is just a silhouette of the object, but I wanted to show you the handle, to help you with your guess.

Yes, it is a dust pan.  I often use mine to sweep crumbs into in when I’m too lazy to bend over and hold a regular dust pan or drag out the vacuum.  This one was apparently a give-away at a furniture store.  Their add, with their 5 digit phone number, is imprinted inside.  At the auction, I paid $10.00 for this!  I actually had people bidding against me, but nobody else was silly enough to pay $10 for an old dust pan.

I’m repeating a photo, because I didn’t want you to leave with the image of a rusty, beat up old dust pan in your head!

I love to go all out with 4th of July decorations but this year I'll have to leave my bins in the attic as we are redoing all our floors. We still can hoist the flag pole and raise our flag but that will probably be it. I love all your ideas and what fun that old dust pan is...
