IN MY HEAD, IT WAS SUPERBOWL GREAT!

Do you ever have one of those ideas that looks great in your mind, but when you execute it, it isn’t exactly what you expected?  That happens to me frequently.  Most recently, it happened last Saturday night.  I thought I was going to do a great Superbowl Sunday tablescape.  Reality didn’t set in until I started taking the photos.  I almost didn’t post this, but I like to keep it real at BH&CwL.  (I also didn’t have anything else to post.)  I’m partying with Cuisine Kathleen for Let’s Dish Wednesday and Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday.

Don’t call the Tablescape Police.  I know my utensils are not placed correctly.  And what is that spoon doing in a corn holder?  Well, the idea was that I had the white lines on the football field going across the table.  (Anything for the theme.)

You have to use your imagination when you see my “goal posts”.  (When I was snapping pictures, I was laughing out loud, so some pictures may be a little shaky. At one point, I decided the white lines looked like I had unrolled toilet paper onto the table-it’s really ribbon between the napkin on one side and the corn holder with spoon on the other side.)  Hey! I could have called it the Toilet Bowl dinner - not very appetizing though)

I think it looks cute, Laurie but you did have me laughing out loud when I read that the white lines looked like unrolled toilet paper. I looked again...and started laughing! You shouldn't have said that. haha! You are the best! You make everything FUN!

Oh, Laurie, what fun! I think the table is great. I am amazed at how you thought out all of those details. I do understand, however, about tablescapes not being what you thought they would be - yikes! It happens to me all of the time. Hope your team won!!

You are a very creative person and think outside the box! You probably color outside the lines! This makes you a very interesting person for I can see it in your great header which I love to view each season! This consept is wonderful and I love your creativity with the grass and the team colors for the dishes. I enjoyed your thoughts and thanks for sharing all your talents! Especially your Humor!

Sometimes it's good to show our viewers that our ideas don't always pan out. The tablescape world doesn't need to take itself very seriously since it's all about the fun of dishes and decorating anyway. Despite that, I loved your creativity and especially the "grass" -- funny!

I think your table is adorable!! What a fun idea and I LOVE the little boy and his dog figurine. Congratulations on a great table and yes, I smiled because it's a FUN table!!

So here's my take on it: I know you're not happy with it, but look at all the super imaginative things you did to pull it off! I, for one, like the "goal posts." I have never been able to figure out how to use those weird measuring sticks, so using them for goal posts is just as good as anything! I totally get the yard lines represented by the napkins. I'm with Marlis in that I'm not sure I could have been so brave to post it if I wasn't happy with it, but I don't think there's any shame in this tablescape at all. Thanks for keepin' it real, sister!

Laurie, you have many more creative bones in your body than I do! This made me smile! I'm sure you had fun with this, and that's all that matters. Great job!

I love that you posted it even though you were 100% happy with it. I'm sure you had fun with it and that's all that matters to me. I've had that happen a time or two but then we move on to next one. It looks like a fun table all around.
