DRIED UP OLD QUEEN!

I’ve completely dried up! No ideas for blog posts. No ideas for crafts (as if I ever had any of those). No ideas for photos from my home. No ideas at all!

HOWEVAH…..

I do have some news. Recently, I became a queen! And I have proof! I was crowned Queen by Laura at Décor to Adore, when I linked to her wedding party. I earned the crown by posting bridesmaids dresses that were judged pitiful pretty princess. At least that’s what Laura is telling me. There was a category for pitiful princess and one for pretty princess. You know that when I got married (in the late 60’s), there weren’t any pretty princess bridesmaids dresses.

Let me show you what a queen wins (whether her princess dresses are pretty or pitiful).

QUEEN LOOT

QUEEN MOS

With loot like that, I don’t even care if my bridesmaids’ dresses were pretty or pitiful! Be sure to visit Décor to Adore. Laura is having blog auctions to purge some of her treasures, and she DOES have some treasures!

When you see my minimalist Spring fireplace mantel, you will KNOW that I really am out of ideas. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen this much of the top of my mantel! [I’m sure there are real minimalists out there, who are saying (probably in a very loud voice), THAT’S MINIMALIST?] But, if you’ve been to my blog before, you know this IS minimal for Laurie.

I am linking my Spring mantel (what little there is to it) to The Tablescaper for Seasonal Sundays. Isn’t her new button pretty?

Even though I’m a dried up old queen, this old queen hasn’t given up …yet. I’ll be back Friday evening to post SOMETHING for Favorite Things, and I hope you’ll join me by sharing some of your favorites. Thanks for visiting a dried up old queen! laurie

Wowser that's a pretty darn nice prize for the worst and best! Congrats girlfriend! And yes I do think that is minimal for you, but it looks great as always! What a cute little frenchy couple! And I'm lovin' the twin wine cooler urns too! Vanna

You will never be dried up. Give it a day...and you will find plenty!!! And yes, your mantle, well Laurie, it is near to being totally ignored. Whatever did it do?

Laurie, congratulations! I don't think you are dried up. I know you've got plenty to share. This mantel for one. It is full of wonderful elements. Love the champagne buckets for vases. ~ Sarah

You wear your crown well, and I love your mantel. Heard you got in a visit with Susie recently.

Congratulations you pitiful princess maker, you.

And I'm joining you in the dried up category. I am just so doggone busy trying to finish my current teaching stint that there isn't an ounce of creative energy flowing through the veins at the end of the day.

This shouldn't be happening to us in the springtime for heaven's sake!

Just counting the days...

And, frankly, your mantel still looks more lovely than anything I ever do.

You're still a Queen to me- and NOT a dried up one.. you dont have to post a project or bunches of pics all the time.. Just YOU talking to us and sharing your day or feelings is plenty.. Your presence in our life is your GIFT to us and whats most important..

Congratulations! What great prizes. I love your mantel. Considering that mine has absolutely nothing - nada - zip on it, this looks very full to me LOL Love your new header mosaic, and I would give just about anything to be able to attend that launch party! Alas, funds and time do not allow. I know y'all will have a blast! Kat

You'll never be dried up Laurie!
Just look at that beautiful mantel!
And your header is so pretty! We are getting snow again today. It's supposed to be about 50 degrees and instead it's nasty and snowing! I've had enough, I want to move south.
And BTW, I love the gifts you won from Laura! She is such a sweet gal!
Hugs,
Cindy

Laurie,
Your mantel is lovely even in its minimalist form. Spring has sprung hasn't it and I need to get out my bunnies.

not dried up at all!! And congrats to you, Girl!

Will you please say a prayer for our family? We've been called to do something that is requiring more faith than anything we've ever done. It's so wonderful, but so hard to keep our chins up in this process! Thanks!

Hello sweet lady...

Ohh my goodness...NOT OLD...OR DRIED UP!!! But...you are definitely a QUEEN, dear friend!!! Ohh boy, I do relate with what you're saying about trying to come up with something for a blogpost! Hehe! I feel that way sooo often! Girl, I'm just sooo slow and there really isn't all that much change going on over at my place to blog about! Hehe!

Well dear friend, I just adore your pretty gifts from Laura! My favorite...the little crown pendant! That's gorgeous!!! Congratulations, Laurie!

Ohhh...I love, love, LOVE your spring mantel!!! Love the pretty blossoms in the silver!!! And...I have to tell you that I just went "ga-ga" when I seen that pretty tree with all the sweet little birds! That's gorgeous, my friend! Wherever did you find that pretty? Girl, I just laughed when I was reading about your mantel being "minimalistic"! I sooo can relate! Hehe! I also enjoyed your pretty blog header! Are all of those pretty flowers in bloom at your place already? Ohh...that reminds me. I was going to tell you that my oldest grandson Bud (I think you remember him?) He is the one that just went into the Air Force last August. Anyway...he is now at his permanent duty station. Little Rock, Arkansas! I don't know how far that is from you! When he told me that he was stationed in Little Rock...I thought about you immediately! Never know...I just may get down your way sometime! wink! Well dear friend, guess I better close this book that I'm writing! Just wanted to stop by to say hello and see how you are doing! It had been a little while since I have been by! Take care, sweet friend!

Love ya,
Chari

Your mantel may seem bare to you, but one thing you are the queen of is staging and displaying your collections. I think it looks beautifully staged and allows those wonderful little figurines to really shine.
I know what you are talking about though about being out of ideas! Man, oh man, does that ever happen to me! I feel like I have nothing left to say! haha! Fresh out of ideas, yep that's me. It's amazing how just when you think you'll never think of something, you end up getting an idea and the rest is history. Congratulations on your new found royalty!

Your mantel does seem a bit bare copared with your normal standards, but sometimes we need a bit of that to insprie us. You say your creative spirit is dried up. I highly doubt that. Perhaps it just needs some rest, and then... a spark. We all get our sparks in different places - something neat in a store, something in someone's post, a dig through things we already own with a creative open mind. I'm sure you'll find your way back. I have not doubt!

Pull out those bunnies. I know you've got tons of Easter decos. Pull them out and let the fun begin!

And I'm glad you like my new button! I do too. I think my daughter did a fabulous job.
