JUNE BRIDES EVERYWHERE (but they are out of control around here)!

In the 60’s, when honeycomb decor wasn’t tacky, my mother had a wedding party.  Of course, I have kept the decorations she had left over from the party, but I’ve never had an occasion when I felt like the bride would appreciate the use of honeycomb decor, so they have stayed boxed up until now.  I’m so glad that Stephanie at Angelic Accents is hosting a Wedding Blog Party, so I can let my vintage honeycomb and plastic decorations out of the box for a day!

At an auction years ago, I bought a box for $5.00, because there was a silver tray I liked on the top of the box.  I didn’t know until I got home that there was a little collection of plastic wedding cake toppers in the box too.

The little “doll-looking” bride and groom is an old bridge tally I found when I cleaned out Mother’s house, along with the small party invitation with the cutouts in the bride’s gown.  The 3D card is a reproduction.

That dude on the first mosaic in the corner has a sinister look on his face, no? Poor little bride!
And look at you two! Just adorable!

Tis a smile of bright expectancy...a yearning to live not as individuals but as one...joined in faith and love...today and for all the days that come...

I so loved lingering amidst the honeycomb and pearls!

Laurie, what a fun post! I'm not surprised you have a collection of wedding cake toppers. You have some unusual pieces. Aren't you glad you saved all of these. I was going to join in this party, but didn't get my act together. I seem to only be capable of focusing on one post at a time. I'm trying to pull together my Mad Hatter's tea.
Love seeing the wedding photo. What a cute couple!

I think the vintage honeycomb pieces will eventually make their way back into modern weddings... for brides with a real sense of style and history!

Your photos were beautiful, and you're such a cute couple!

Laurie, I'm just drooling over your entire post! I can see that you put so much time and thought into sharing this with us all. Such a gorgeous tablescape and I adore the conservatory all decorated for a June wedding! How clever. Your sweet little plastic bridal couples are each so unique, even down to their little gowns and bouquets ~ Love them. The musical bride is such a special gift from your SIL! What song does she play?

I love the old honeycomb decorations and the 3-D card is wonderful, too. I've not seen any bridge tallies like your cutout card ~ how unique! Love how you incorporated your bridal pearls into the sweet vignette. The best photo of all is that photograph of you and hubby ~ what an adorable little porcelain doll YOU were! Love the sheer bodice of your gown! BTW, I had that same hairstyle in the early 70's!!

Thanks so much for joining in the WEDDING BLOG PARTY! I'm having such fun visiting everyone!

Big Hugs,
Stephanie

Laurie, I love wedding things and your collection is wonderful (as always!)

I always loved honeycomb decorations, especially the early ones when they were well made. I get a kick out of the sound they make the first time you open them!

When did they become tacky? I think they're fun and clever and certainly an inexpensive way to provide color and a theme when you can't afford real flowers or you don't have heirloom pieces to use. They're perfect for the lesser occasions of life like showers, engagement parties, kids parties, 4th of July parties, and so on.
