Please tell your hero husband - Thank you!...for his service - and also thank you for being a supportive wife during a time when it was most difficult. No matter what anyone's views are on any individual war -- our service men and women are ALL heros!

Laurie,
I remember the first day we meet we realized after only a few minutes of conversation both of our husbands had served in Vietnam and that was an instant bond to our friendship. I'm always so proud when our service men and women are recognized in church on Memorial Day Sunday. Thank you so very much for posting this.

I vividly remember Vietnam and those friends and family who served. I also had uncles who served in Korea and it sure wasn't like Mash. I wear red every Friday as my small way to thank all of those who have fought and fight to allow me the blessing of freedom.

There just aren't enough ways to say Thank You.

Laurie I love your post! I am a Marine brat and my Dad served in Viet Nam. I was a teenager and so proud of him. I lost High School friends who went to Viet Nam. It is a war we should talk about and the bravery of our soldiers!

Our dad served in Vietnam too, Laurie. Our Vietnam vets over here are certainly honoured much more these days and they make up a huge number of vets who proudly march on Anzac day (our Memorial Day) over here.

Please thank your husband from us.

Lest we forget.

Natasha, Stacey and Holly.

God bless your husband (and hero) for his service in the Viet Nam war. Thank you too Laurie for reminding us that freedom comes with a price.
Memorial Day is bitter sweet for me. Sweet because I was married 28 years ago and bitter because my cousin Steve was killed this day 35 years ago. Steve Prefontaine. He was America's best long distance runner and only 24 years old when he died. This holiday is always conflicting for me.

Laurie,
I so enjoyed reading your tribute to your husband and all of those who continue to lay their lives on the line in the name of freedom.
I'm joining in for the first time this week, thanks for being such a gracious hostess.

Thank you for reminding everyone how sweet Freedom is - my grandfather is a WWII vet, he's 87 years old. There are so few of them left...my father was also in the military. I don't think that there is anyone who doesn't know someone who has defended this country. While I may not agree with everything our government does, I do whatever I can to support our troops and remember those who have laid it all on the line for the rest of us.

Happy Memorial Day, have a great weekend and thank you to your husband and every other member of our military - past, present and future.

Words well said. Honor those who keep us safe from harm and distruction. Bless those away from our homelands and honor all those that have gone before us!
Happy Memorial Day to you and your family.
