DO YOU HAVE YOUR COPY YET?

Like so many others in Blogville, I have been anxiously awaiting the first edition of “Flea Market Style”. I was so excited to find it for sale in my little town! You will want to be sure to go get a copy before they sell out. It is a beautiful magazine filled to the brim with incredible photos and fabulous ideas!

Recently, on the Flea Market Style blog, I was one of the very lucky winners of a signed and numbered print of a Matthew Mead photograph from this first edition!

Isn’t that gorgeous?

And here is THE photograph in THE magazine! Isn’t it gorgeous?

TBL W MAG

My tablescape today is my attempt to set a table similar to the one Matthew Mead styled for the photo shoot for the magazine. (He makes it look so easy!I'm pretty good at doing shabby. It's the chic part that alludes me! As it turns out, the only similarity is the color scheme.) My sincere apologizes to Mr. Mead.

For the magazine tablescape, Matthew Mead used platters as chargers! Isn’t that a clever idea? I used two of my grandmother’s “once white” platters and two of my platters that have blue borders.

IROSTONE

I usually display grandmother’s ironstone platters upside down, because I love the marks on the bottoms of them.

PLACE SETTING

If you haven’t bought a copy of this magazine yet, do yourself a favor, and start looking for it. You don’t want to miss this! (No, they are not paying me to post this.  If they see my tablescape, they may pay me to delete this post!)

Don’t forget to go to Between Naps On The Porch for links to wonderful tablescapes.  It is so kind of you to visit my blog. laurie

It looks wonderful. I picked up the new Cottage Style today...think that's what it's called. It's nice too but many of the pictures are repeats from past BHG magazines.

This is really gorgeous. Thanks for sharing the tips from the magazine. I don't think I will be seeing a copy of it for a while yet...we get American magazines very late here in Oz.

Best wishes,
Natasha.

I keep forgetting to look for this magazine. Thanks for the reminder. The pictures are beautiful. Especially that Michael Mead print. Glad you won it. It's incredible--my favorite subject: roses!

Laurie, I think Mr Mead would be flattered with the results of your table. I think you did a great job. I love the idea of hanging the platters so you can see the markings. You are a clever lady,Kathysue

I haven't been able to find the magazine yet. I'm going to look in several places, while I'm in the bigger town south of here, this morning. Hope I can find it!

Your table is beautiful, Laurie. Last year I ordered several round platters from Raised in Cotton, for use as chargers. I love the idea!

Oh I wanna get that magazine, Laurie. I wonder if they sell it in the airport when I go home next Sat. It would be a fun read in the plane. I love your tablescape. I think you did a perfect copy. Pretty dishes!...Christine

Yes, I am better. Having a Tea Party Sat. for 4 year old granddaughter.
I want to start doing a Tea Party on line. I been dreaming of it since, I started my blog. I just been waiting to get better. So very very soon.

I found the magazine in my small-town grocery store this week, and have enjoyed it so much. My favorite article was all of the blue and white dishes, which you have recreated wonderfully. Love all of your platters as chargers. Take care, Sally

This is a gorgeous tablescape! You did a wonderful job of interpreting Matthew's idea into a tablesetting! Well done! I did finally find Flea Market Style at B&N after stalking them for nearly a week. :)

Those napkin rings are lovely!
I have tried the platter thing, but it is hard to find platters where the plate fits and doesn't wobble. DH doesn't do well with wobble, LOL, and I don't want to see a platter fly across the room.
I have never seen that magazine...I will see if we have it here!
Pretty table, Laurie!

You're funny! I don't think anyone is going to want you to delete this post!

Your version is just as good, my dear. I am now inspired to go poking around and find some of those old platters -- the blue dishes I have.

BTW I cannot find this mag anywhere! Could it be that they are already gone?

Good job, Laurie. Love the idea of using platters for chargers. I have a couple that would make great chargers with my Old Britain Castles. Think I'll have to be on the lookout for some more.

Your blue and white tablescape is lovely! I'm always fascinated by the marks on the back of dishes also.
Thank you for the reminder about Flea Market Style. I want to pick up a copy before they are gone.

Hi Laurie,
Congratulations on your win! It's a beautiful image and, speaking of beautiful ... your table looks wonderful! You've definitely captured the look and feeling of Mr. Mead's. Yours is particularly special because it incorporates so many lovely, sentimental pieces. I love the simplicity of your grandmother's forks.

I particularly like the way you've used cups as vases flanking the center arrangement. I might just have to borrow that clever idea (sincerest form of flattery, right?). ;)

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Bye for now,
Bill

Laurie...Mr. Mead would be proud! I love a blue and white tablescape and your's is lovely. Thanks for posting where all your beautiful pieces came from...love hearing about things that have been inhertited or passed down. :-) I don't have the magazine, yet...but I've been reading about it in Blogland. I just might have to break down and buy one. Since I have a little decorating book addiction, I've been trying to cut down on my magazine consumption.
:-) Hugs,
Susan
