APOLOGIZING FOR APOLOGIZING!

EDITED TO ADD: I did not realize that this sounds like I'm complaining until I started getting comments. I'm not complaining about someone telling me that I need to stop apologizing. They are right! I really am just apologizing for apologizing!

I may make matters worse with this post, but I really am apologizing for apologizing. I recently received a comment from a blogger who told me that I need to quit apologizing for everything. I will not post that commenter's name, simply because I didn't ask her permission to quote her comment. It was not a rude comment, and in fact, it was kind and complimentary.

However, it did make me start thinking about my blog postings, which I don't often do. (I'm afraid if I think about my posts too much, I might quit posting).

I don't know what it was that made me start blogging. I do know that it was NOT because I thought I had some great idea to share. I visit blogs that are produced by decorators and designers, chefs and cooks, writers, artists, crafters, photographers, travelers, and inspirational bloggers with a deep understanding of God and the Bible. Some of these bloggers are professionals, and others say that their talents are just hobbies. I have none of those wonderful talents, and therefore, I really have nothing to share with the blog world. As a matter of fact, several months ago, I received a comment that said "you are just taking up space". Surprisingly, that didn't offend me though. I know that, no matter how little I have to say, I have as much right to have a blog space as anyone else. (I also know that the commenter was correct).

Some of the apologies on my posts are really half-way done in jest (I'm not really looking for a psychiatrist, even if I do need one!) If you have visited my blog more than one time, I'm sure you realize that I am a little short on self-confidence. Feeling that I have nothing worth sharing leads to apologies. (I always think maybe the next post will be worth sharing.) My apologies may also be made in self-defense. (If I tell everyone that I know I have nothing to post, then they can't leave a comment telling me that what I have to say is not interesting.) In all honesty, I do know that I have a problem collecting and keeping "stuff", and I also know that I have a chip on my shoulder about this problem. A lot of my apologies are made, because of this chip on my shoulder.

After reading this recent comment, I realize that my apologies might sound like whining, and that readers might be sick of reading them. I understand that, and I am making a promise now that I will ATTEMPT to stop apologizing. Apologizing is not something I do intentionally. I'm just being honest. I do it in real life too! (Aren't you glad you don't have to put up with that?) Although I'm sure this apology for apologizing will not be my last apology, I AM resolving to TRY to stop apologizing so much. I'm going to let this post serve as my blanket apology for all I have posted and might post in the future.

And guess what I have to do now. I HAVE to APOLOGIZE for this apology for apologizing! (I'm not starting off very well, am I?) PLEASE HELP ME! laurie

WHAT???????????????????????

Oh i got steamed after this!
And Muse's who are steamed are tough cookies let me tell you!

I cannot even imagine someone writing that to anyone...

I apologize for their rude behavior.

You and everyone...have a right to have a voice ... and if others don't care what you have to say...then the choice is...

Don't visit your blog!

LOL I say this from experience..and lost followers...lost readers...lost commenter's...

They decide the prose is not their cup of tea...and they place all my work in that one box...

They categorize me, you...and many others, who do not fit their mold.

But people are not jello...we don't fit into MOLDs!!

so, my friend..BLOG BLOG and then BLOG some more!!!

HUGS

Laurie--And the wheel goes round and round :)I do know how you feel. Sometimes I look at other people's posts and wonder what in the world I have to offer when compared to others...and yes, yours is one of those! The point is I do this because I enjoy it. It soothes the frustrated writer in me and I enjoy the interaction and "meeting" new friends. I'm just sorry that you're sorry that you're sorry :) Have a fun remorseless weekend!!

nEVER APOLAGISE FORE SOMETHING THATN YOU HAVEN'T DONE. With 20 -30 people leaving comments after every post ,that sould tell you people want to read what you have to say. There are thousands of blogs, so if they don't want to read this blog, let them surf on. Kathy

I know what you mean about lack of confidence. I recently started blogging and linked to two blog parties. I was really nervous about my writing and my pictures. Worried about are they interesting enough or are the pictures something anyone would be interested in. I did receive comments that my entries were good. So I will continue and try to get better. It is fun. From what I have seen so far on your blog, you are doing a great job~KK

Laurie - don't you DARE stop blogging! The person who made the comment in itself tells you much about tht individual..which I'm too much of a lady to say anthing further...

Your blog makes me laugh, cry and I look forward to it!

As far as apologizing - when you showed a cluttered closet etc..it's the way we were brought up.. And there is no reason to apologize by being raised properly!!!

Hang in there..you have lots of readers and the others can just mosey on down the road.

Dear Laurie,
You know it's weird, but I've never noticed you apologizing, and I read you new posts faithfully! I suppose when I did read a post where you were apologizing I knew you were being funny. Besides, what's wrong with apologizing?

I love your positive attitude, decorating, collections, and much more! I've always thought if you and I lived in the same town we would be good friends.

Smiles & Hugs,
Carol

I've never noticed the apologies, either. So, whatever. Just keep blogging, because I'd miss you if you didn't.

These days, I'm doing more browsing and reading than posting. Don't have much to say that wouldn't sound like whining, so I guess I can identify with your comment about whining.

Keep on doing what you're doing.

Oh gosh woman! You do make me laugh! I love the "space you take up" -- nobody does it like you!!!! -- If I can't be your next door neighbor --- or long lost cousin -- or something---I'm sure glad that we're blogging neighbors -- with you it's always a "wonderful day in the neighborhood" -- you always make us smile.

Laurie, I am laughing so hard that DH came in to see what was so funny. You are a scream. I love reading your blog and everyone of your posts are wonderful. Keep up the good humor, I really need a good laugh. Hugs, Marty

Laurie,
I must be missing something. First of all, I haven't noticed you apologizing at all! If you do, it's all in fun! I think you are a very talented writer and blogger. But more important, a good person. I feel like I know you!
Is that weird? Taking up space? Now that makes me mad. I feel like the blog world is sometimes like high school. All I know is that I showed up as the "new girl" and you welcomed me and showed me around! Thank you for being my blog mentor, neighbor and friend.

Laurie, I've never really noticed the apologizing either. Your blog is funny, interesting and beautiful - reflects you perfectly, I'd say! As Frank Burns said to Margaret - "it's nice to be nice to the nice"! Hugs, Kathy

HUH????? YOU HAVE NOTHING TO APOLOGIZE FOR! AS FAR AS SOMEONE MAKING THE STATEMENT THAT YOU ARE TAKING UP SPACE - I WON'T GO THERE!
Due to some emails/comments I had to finally activate Comment Moderation the week before Christmas. Probably the same ones. It is the Cyber World! Love your posts - Keep up the good work. You are appreciated!
We are having a Heat Wave! Love the warmer temps. Hope you have a great weekend.

Laurie, don't you dare go anywhere lady. I am just getting to know you and have found a blogger friend that is close enough to actually meet. I'm looking forward to that one day soon and a day filled with flea markets, thrift stores and more. You can't quit blogging now!

I must really be out of the loop...cuz you KNOW I am here all the time. I don't care if you apologize...or you don't. And it is a good thing I don't know who told you you were taking up space...give me an absolute break....you take all the space you need...who appointed them the blog police...
Whatever...you know that saying pretty much covers almost every thing in life.
Blog away girlfriend...blog, blog, blog!!!

Maybe someone else should apologize for their rude comment, instead of you...I don't have the confidence, either, that others have, but that is ok, it may come and it may not. Don't let someone you don't know dictate what you are posting, if they don't care for it, they don't have to read it! I happen to like you blog, therefore I will keep coming back.
Have a great weekend, Laurie

WELL...I NEVER !! I just hate it when some people are so rude and they seem to be just WAITING to hurt someone's feelings. I left RATE MY SPACE for the rudeness there and everyone has been so nice here in Blogland. It has made blogging so much fun for me.

I agree with THE MUSE...if your readers don't like what you are saying, they can just move their butts on over to another blog!

I love reading your blog and hope you will continue to write what your heart tells you!!
xo bj
And, besides all that...we're gonna have a high ole time at your Valentine party..woo hoo

Don't feel bad Laurie, I have the same problem. Maybe it's a reflex with me, I didn't realize I said I'm sorry so often until a friend mentioned it, but it's a hard habit to break. You're in good company! ☺♥☺

Dear Laurie,
I am so irritated that someone left you a comment about taking up space etc. You are and always will be one of my favorite blogs, your smart, interesting and VERY TALENTED, even if you don't always know it! I am a bit like you, well maybe a lot, I feel insecure about my posts but in my opinion your just a very humble person and that is one of the things I love about you!!!!! Hugs, Cindy

You (and your blog) are lovely, and don't ever forget it!!

Rudeness should be ignored. It stinks, in every way!
Make no apologies, as our blogs are (first and foremost) for ourselves as writers. Long after we eventually close them, our words and memories will remain, and they will be ours to keep. Write from the heart and you won't go wrong.

Cheers,
Linda :-)

Oh Laurie! My heart is breaking at the thought that someone would be so thoughtless. You are truly one of my favorites.
Note to commentors: A blog is a web log. An online journal. A diary. Everyone has the right to write.
I have always said that I write for myself as therapy and a way of keeping track of my life for scrapbooking purposes. That people read my blog is still a source of amazement to me.
But the one thing that is true is that each blog is that persons blog. No one forces anyone to read any particular blog. If a blog is not your cup of tea then (this is to commentors) DON'T read it!
I visit you because you are genuine and I think talented in the way of domestic beauty.
Keep up the grand work my friend!

Laurie,

This little part of the blogoshere belongs entirely to you and only you. and you have nothing to apologize for EVER. It's your place and you do what you want.

You did have me laughing with all the "sorry" pics!

I love all your posts! I look forward to popping over here and getting cauht up on posts!

And you don't really have any "great ideas"? Um..hello?! After seeing about one gazillion and one beautiful pictures posted by a million bloggers out there of their stunning Christmas decorations, your Christmas kitchen was the most amazing kitchen I saw! I will never forget it! As a matter of fact, I bookmarked that post just to look at and get inspiration from for next year!
