YOU MAY BE SORRY YOU ASKED-OUR FAMILY ROOM on MOSAIC MONDAY

I am again joining Mary at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday. I am also posting pictures of my family room. Of course, before I show my family room, I have some 'splainin' to do. This was one of the most difficult posts I have done. I'm just not comfortable showing pictures from my home. I take the pictures; look at them on my computer; don't like what I see; go move something around a little in the room; go take another picture and put it on my computer... repeat several more times. By that time, it is waaaaaay past my bedtime, and I have to work tomorrow, so I just publish it "as is" without even looking at the pictures! I'm not going to have much commentary (I know, it's shocking-Laurie at a loss for words!). I know nothing about interior decorating, so I'm not going to pretend that I can advise you on the art of decorating. You'll see what I mean when you look at the pictures. (Remember, some of my blog readers asked me to do this.)

Can you tell I don't like plain doors?

Y

This is my "fringe is your friend" trick. The seat on this chair is really worn. I haven't been able to get it reupholstered, so I cut a piece of fabric for the seat, hot glued some fringe on, and laid it on the seat. The fringe is heaving enough to keep the fabric from sliding, and I didn't sew a stitch. Of course, if you do this, you can probably find some fabric that coordinates with the existing fabric on the chair! (Hey! I was using glue on my draperies way before Nester had a blog--simply because I do not like to sew.)

Fringe glued to fabric for a cover for the footstool. I did Velcro this fabric to the top of the footstool

DEAR LAURIE,
BEAUTIFUL HOME!!!!!!! You can tell it is loved and so warm and a lived in home...while very beautiful, it is not staged and you have thought about the comfort of every one that comes to visit you..."The Perfect Hostess" who never feels she does enough and yet goes beyond. You are a unique lady, always thinking of other people.
I love...love...everything. Your shelves and the way you have them displayed with some artwork hanging from the shelf...very chic.
I love the picture of the Eiffel tower...I love the colors of your home......you should be proud.
I love the doors that are covered with tassels hanging....
I have said a prayer for everyone on your list and thank you for praying for Amy and her friend Leila...this is Amy's appointment day with the surgeon Dr. Medina in Okc....I have never been to bed for praying and doing some art work to relax. I will let you and Barbara from the purple goat, and sheila, the magpie,Penniwig, karen harvey cox, gloria, and keetha and just everyone who is praying for Amy.
your prayer list is really growing.
have a wonderful day sweet lady.
hugs and love

Laurie,
You did it again!! Everytime I think is your best post and then you go and top it! I just love these pics, I have had so much fun admiring them all. The room seems gigantic! I love your fireplace and those gorgeous pieces of furniture. The hutch and armoire, are they antique? they are stunning! And those bookcases that go on and on, what wonderful storage and display! Now, I am dying to see your pretty kitchen and those doors, do they lead out to your pool area? Looks like a screened in porch too. All your decor is lovely and each piece seems so perfect. Thanks for sharing this was fun, Hugs, Cindy

Try moving the chair two inches to the left and second plate from the left looks like it is one inch too far. Hahaha, just a little RMS humor! Seriously, your home is lovely. If I sat down in your family room, I would never get up and leave. I'm a big fan of "hodge podget" myself. Don't change a thing and thank you for sharing!

Laurie, I LOVE your family room! All the wonderful adjectives have been used already, so let me just repeat what others have said, your room is so warm & inviting & has a "happy" feel to it. I had an AH HA moment when I saw you kitchen door. (I didn't know where the kitchen was located in relation to dining room - ok, that sounds kind of dorky, but I think you know what I mean.)

Oh, and you had me with the dog mosaic - I LOVE COCKERS!

Thank you for posting your gorgeous family room! ☺♥☺ Diane

No way am I sorry that I asked! I love all the angles you took of your humoungous family room! So much eye candy, I'll have to go back again for seconds! Funny, I just took pictures this morning of my family room in anticipation of some before and afters, and I know what you mean about not liking what you see. I had to take it at strategic angles so as to not show the mess in the background. But I can't see anything in your family room that I didn't like. You're much too critical of yourself. I've seen pictures in magazines that don't own up to yours! Great post!

Oh wow - what a huge family room! We would love to have your built in book shelves but ours would be loaded down with books! Your family room reminds me of an English sitting room with that lovely fireplace and your most comfortable looking furniture. You don't need to apologize for your STUFF. Many of us have parents and in-laws that have passed and I know I couldn't throw out everything they had. My hubby says I should "rotate" the stuff but the problem is I don't have enough storage (cupboards, cabinets and/or closets...) to store it properly. I would never have those CLEAN HOUSE folks at my place telling me that the stuff passed down isn't my beloved relative and to get rid of it. Thanks for sharing your lovely home with us.

I am gonna hold my breath that this goes through... Well, I really can hardly write..Laurie I honestly can't think of a room that I would rather have in my home...every single item I LOVE! You are a natural born decorator.. absolutely wonderful.. You have achieved the ultimate.. a warm cozy, welcoming room filled with sentimental family things.. perfectly blended and emblished with your bargains, but no one would ever know this! No bargain look at all..you are so gifted and you certainly have the "eye". No amount of education nor training can replace the heart that knows that sees what home should be..and dear girl you have so much heart. Thank-you for sharing yourself and your beautiful home with us.. Love, Cindy
