Susan (Between Naps on the Porch) hosts Tablescape Tuesday, and although I am not a tablescaper, since everyone seemed to be having so much fun being a part of Susan's party, I decided to join in the fun. Do not judge Tablescape Tuesday by my tablescape. As I said, I am not a tablescaper. Please go to Between Naps on the Porch for directions to all of the real tablescapes in blog land. Actually, I prepared this post to join Tablescape Tuesday last week, but decided it wasn't worth posting. I just hadn't deleted yet. I am in the bed, sick now, so I decided I'd go ahead and post this, since I am not able to come up with something new.
The witch centerpiece was given to me by a neighbor who crafted her from Readers Digest pages. This witch cannot remain on my table, because my grandchildren are frightened by her. (Her face IS kind of frightening). Normally, during the Halloween season, she stays in our game room, because our grandchildren seldom go in there.Of course, on my blog, even a tablescape posting comes with a story... The fabric covering the cake stand that the witch is on is an apron. My dh, knowing that I love tablecloths, bought a huge box of what he thought were tablecloths at an estate sale one time. (He had gone there to look at tools.) The top two items in the box were tablecloths. The remainder of the box was filled with aprons! I have enjoyed using them in various ways and even tie them around my chairs sometimes. (You'll probably see that in a later post). The little gold salt cellars belonged to my grandmother. I was so surprised when I found that Susan also enjoys salt cellars. I thought I was the only one who used them.
For napkin rings, I hot glued a witch ornament onto a "fallish" ribbon.
.
I sure hope that mouse doesn't get our dessert before we get to it!
Hope you enjoyed seeing my bargains on my bewitched tablescape. Now, go back to Between Naps on the Porch to see some really great tablescapes.

Hope you are feeling better sweetie. Love those glasses too, they look like some I've seen that were soooo expensive.. Great job, bargainhunter! Love ya, Cindy
Laurie,
I absolutely LOVE the witch napkins rings! What a great idea about the glass plates~~ingenius!
Get better soon cause we sure miss ya!
Hope you feel better soon. I thought your table was just darling. I would love to have the halloween table. My grands would love it. I can hardly be on the computer, when he's around, He wants me to get it all.
As the good witch Glinda from the land of OZ (the one that tried to change the spelling of my name) would say, "There's no place like home". That means comfort food, warm fuzzy slippers, and all the things that make you feel good. It is past time for you and Gloria to kick the butt of whatever varmint has grabbed hold of the two of you. Consider that I have twitched my nose (Samantha style) and this unpleasantness is now a thing of the past.
Laurie, you only think you have a problem with digressing; I think I hold the title of Queen Mother, for that category.
Now to the business at hand (see how I digressed), your tablescape. Those napkins, with the witches stirring their brew are perfect for the occasion.
There is one other witch in my kitchen besides myself: a wood magnet of a witch riding her broom, that is supposed to keep me from burning or otherwise ruining the fruits of my labors in the kitchen. She's doing a pretty fair job.
Really hope you feel better soon. Sorry it is so late, but when I came by earlier, you hadn't posted this wonderful tablescape.
GM Laurie.. hope you are doing better today girl..how can you sleep with the BOSS if your sick?? that stopping by to say a BIG hi and I am sending some cyber chicken soup to you girl..hope it gets there hot...hugs and smiles Gloria
Love it! Made me chuckle. Now if you don't mind, I need a quick broom ride to the school carpool line b/c I already know I've been on here too long, and I'm going to be late! Here's my virtual quarter!
Laurie, what a great idea to use the glass plate on top of paper plates. I like that. I have alot of china too, but it is not usable except one time a year. So I try to go all out with tablecloths, napkins, etc. Your ideas and table...so cute and clever. I like that. Very fun~!
Blessings,
Debbie
Good Afternoon Laurie - Loved your tablescape. I haven't tried my hand at that one yet - to be perfectly honest, I'm a little scared, so many of y'all's are sooo pretty!! Yours was very Halloweened out. Hate you're not feeling well, please get better soon. Cyber hugs coming your way!!
Lynette
Hi Laurie, Everything is so adorable and festive!
Love the tablescape.
~Happy Halloween~ Hope you feel better soon. Warmly, Melissa
Hey Laurie - Hope you are feeling better. THAT bench is finally here - if you feel like it, come over to my house to take a look!! It might make you feel better - LOL.
Lynette
Laurie, I hope you're feeling much better by now, being sick is never fun. I'd much rather lie in bed when I'm feeling great, with a cup of peppermint tea and a basket of much-loved magazines.
There are so many great items and ideas on your Halloween table! I love the stemware, and your napkin rings idea is adorable.
Adding a seasonal napkin beneath a glass plate is a super idea. My mind is already running with other items that would be fun to use ... photos, doilies (paper or "real"), vintage hankies, pressed/dried flowers.
You've given me a lot to think about, and yet another excuse to shop, because all of my glass plates are textured: Miss America depression era plates (I collect pink Miss America, but also have lots of crystal/clear ones), Waterford Waffle, Coronation, and some currently-nameless I recently inherited), plus Princess House floral-etched plates from my newlywed years in the 80s, and the cheapie embossed-with-textured-leaves ones available at the dollar store.
I have a question about your with, "crafted ... from Readers Digest pages." I'm assuming that you mean the underside (not visible) is made of Readers Digests ... have the pages been folded in (a huge dog-ear triangle) like we used to do in the 60s, to make table top Christmas trees? That was a big-time craft back then, pre-Martha, and it called for lots of silver or gold spray paint. If you could add a couple close up pics of the witch, I'd love to see the details.
I've added you to my links list, and hope you'll come by and visit sometime soon.
hugs,
Victoria
I love your tablescape. The napkin rings are just too, too cute. I snuck over to your blog from Santa Maker's blog. Loved the visit.
Laurie, I am so late for the Halloween Party! I didn't think you would feel like posting, so I hadn't checked! I'm glad you did, your table is darling! Very creative, using clear glass plates on top of napkins! Loved it all! Love Ya! Connie
