TEA PARTY TABLESCAPE

Springtime Tea Party-Bargain Decorating with Laurie

I'm having a little tea party with my grandchildren.

What do you do when the weather looks like this, and rain is predicted every day for a week?

You just have to create your own sunshine. So, I'm going to do that with my grands this weekend. Of course, they always create sunshine for me.

I bought this little Alice in Wonderland tea set at Tuesday Morning when it went on sale a few years ago.

I'm using the tea cup for sugar cubes.

I'll serve cream, and

lemon slices.

For this post, I used faux cupcakes, but I'll be serving the real thing when the grands visit.

They'll drink from polka dot cups (Classic Coffee Tea).

They'll stir their tea with our wedding pattern spoons (Towle, Old Master)

Polka dot plates (Bistro Collection by Amici) for cookies and cupcakes. (You know their parents are going to be thrilled when they come home with sugar highs. It's just one of the advantages of being a grandparent.)

I'll serve chocolate covered cherries on this tiered server.

I'd be worried about using such dainty napkins (these came from a long-ago estate sale), but my grandchildren don't ever remember to dab crumbs from their faces or fingers.

I bravely went out in the rain to cut some miniature jonquils for our table.

Remember, if it's raining on you, you just have to create your own sunshine. Thank you for visiting me today.

This is all just adorable. Your grandchildren are so lucky to have such a creative grandmother who can create such a wonderland for them. When I talked to my mom last night, she said that the weatherman was predicting that the rain should end around noon today. I certainly hope so!

You certainly did create your own sunshine! What a cute table- love the polka dots and the Alice and Wonderland tea set. The bright striped tablecloth adds the perfect touch and keeps things cheerful! I bet the grandkids loved it.

Delightful table! I especially like your mix of patterns and, of course, the way you did your runner.

Oh, Your grandchildren will be jumping up and down when they see your table. I was planning a little tea party for mine but after seeing yours I'd better not plan on blogging about it. Your polka dot plates and cups are so darling. I love your linens too. Just yesterday I discovered my petite daffodils blooming that I had forgotten I had. Yours look so nice in your teapots flanking the cute bunny hat.
Enjoy your grands.
